What are the better adhesives that can secure crown and post?

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009
Q.
I have a front top central tooth fitted with a crown with post, I had it fitted many years ago but recently the post bent forcing the tooth forward. I’m told by my dentist this was because of my overbite. He removed the crown & post and made me a new one. The new crown & post will now not stay in for longer than a few days, even though I’m not biting on it. Are there more expensive / better adhesives that could be used to secure it?

Advice over matching of new and old crowns

Sunday, September 20th, 2009
Q.
I recently broke a piece off a back tooth on which I had root canal treatment a few years ago. Both of my front teeth are crowned and I was also experiencing a little “vibration” in one of them. On visiting my dentist yesterday and after taking x-rays, she says the root canal treatment I had years ago was “incomplete” (it was done at the same practice but by my previous dentist who has now left) but there is no decay so recommends just a crown as there is not enough tooth left to fill. As for the front crown I have an infection for which she is recommending root canal treatment and a new crown. She has quoted me £450 per crown plus £360 for the root canal treatment Initally I thought this sounded very expensive but after a bit of research have accepted these are probably the right prices – however my main concern is that the new crown will match the one next to it? I should be grateful for your opinion on the treatment recommended and the price – and is there a chance they won`t match? Thanks you for your time.

Options for straight beautiful teeth for the older people

Sunday, September 20th, 2009
Q.
I am 61 years old and as seems to be with many older people I have considerable movement of my lower teeth resulting in them bunching in the front. My upper teeth now also appear to be moving and I would like to have them corrected. Is this possible? I should say I enjoy good health both orally and physically and participate in regular excercise and have never smoked. I visit the dentist for check ups regularly but have been told I am too old to bother with this. Your opinion would be appreciated.

My canine was removed in childhood can i get it restored now?

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009
Q.
As a child my dentist removed a single canine tooth. As a result the centre line of my top teeth is about 3-4mm off centre from my lips, resulting in one-sided appearance. Is it possible to restore the centre line using crowns or implants? Many thanks

My dentist advices to have implants are they really necessary?

Monday, September 14th, 2009
Q.
I went two dentists the first one said he would do my smile replacing my crowns, but I had to have the back of my mouth seen to first.I Really wanted my smile done first, he said they were in a decent condition and could wait,he showed me the x rays to back up what he said. But because I wanted a smile first with said crowns I went to another dentist he seemed pleased to do the crowns then he sent me letter saying I would have to have implants and telling me allsorts of horror stories if I did not have, So like when I asked the first dentist who was happy to show me the x rays , this second dentist would not let me near them,I feel I am being manipulated into more expense treatments for the smile, after all I Saw the x rays from first dentist and I could see them perfectly clearly, but the second dentist got very agitated, all I wanted was some new crowns I can not afford 6 to 8 implants where can I go for my crowns I live in the huddersfield area what do you make of this .I am really upset

I had a composite filling which broke off what can i do?

Monday, September 14th, 2009
Q.
Dr. Moore, A year ago, I had a composite filling put into my front tooth. A few days ago, the bottom part of the tooth broke off in two places and the composite filling from the front remaining part to the top has come out completely; leaving only a thin part of my real tooth behind. Is this tooth salvagable for a crown?

Im 33 and have gappy teeth would u suggest dentures or crowns?

Friday, September 11th, 2009
Q.
Hi, i am a 33 year old male with very gappy front teeth. Not just the front two, but most of the upper teeth have gaps which obviously affects my confidence. Having consulted my dentist and had my teeth impressions sent to the lab, was told 4 to 7 crowns would be the best option and due to my age, a partial denture would not be recommendable. The cost involved was quite daunting however, i acknowledge that a smile for life is priceless. Do you agree that at my age this would be the best course of action to take, and a partial dentutre should be avoided. Many thanks.
