my face has protruded in the direction of the teeth causing a drop in my facial strucure and no support for my jaws

Q.
Braces were used to put my front teeth (top and bottom) together because I had a large gap in the front and bottom teeth. I’ve learned later that I have tissue in those areas that would not allow teeth to grow in those area. Braces and implants have been done to keep my front teeth together. Now, my face has protruded in the direction of the teeth causing a drop in my facial strucure and no support for my jaws. How can this be corrected?

My question is, there are many cosmetic dentists in my area (Solihull, West Midlands) but I don’t know who to go to for the best treatment, can you advise please?

Q.
I have a tooth missing next to my top 2 front teeth. I had a tooth on a plate to fill the gap but hate it and only wear it when I go outdoors. I have decided the answer would be to have a dental implant providing this can be carried out following x rays on the bone etc. My question is, there are many cosmetic dentists in my area (Solihull, West Midlands) but I don’t know who to go to for the best treatment, can you advise please? Thankyou ..

Is is possible to redo the cosmetic work that was done 11 years ago

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009
Q.
My daughter aged 22 suffered trauma when she was 11 ending in her losing both her front teeth. Is it possible to have the previous work removed to gain a more cosmetic effect? As she has matured and her facial features changed the dental work looks very false. She has approached the dentist who did the work, but was told it was not possible.

I opted for cosmetic dental surgery nearly 2 years ago to replace 4 front teeth to improve the overall appearance.

Q.
Hi I was wondering you can on advise on my situation? I opted for cosmetic dental surgery nearly 2 years ago to replace 4 front teeth to improve the overall appearance. The method used was CEREC which proved unreliable. After 2 fittings I walked away only to return after 6 months when a fracture appeared on one of the crowns. This was probably a result of my bite and I do recall not being able to bite down fully which I did mention this at the time. A replacement crown was then fitted only to reveal a tooth which far from matched the others. It was then decided to replace all 4 which unfortunatly did not have the appearance one hoped. These were then removed and I was fitted with a porcelain bridge with a result I was finally happy with. Unfortunatly 3 months ago a gap between my top two teeth appeared and has got progressively worse. When the bridges were first fitted make up was applied which has since fallen out and revealed these gaps. Even breathing in can cause discomfort which I assume suggests that the actual teeth are exposed and open to decay? I contacted my dentist today who to be fair has said he will do everything in his power to correct the problem. My concern is I have started to doubt his ability and to be honest I’m not sure I want to go through the entire process for a 5th time which has been a huge inconvenience. He said today that the problem appears to come only from the makeup which will be a simple fix. My concern is if he is thinking of applying make up again surely this is only a temporary fix to an ongoing problem? I was wondering if you have heard of anyone experiencing such problems in the past. Is this down to poor training, equipment or could it be me! The dentist I choose recently opened the cosmetic surgery in addition to a number of standard practices so is certainly not new to this. Any advice you can give on my circumstance would be greatly appreciated. I am keen to get this resolved and would like to return with a professional opinion. Thanks

We found that we could get treatment for overbite at the NHS but the dentist called it cosmetic

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009
Q.
Hello, My daughters two adult second teeth have not formed leaving big gaps between her other teeth, and as her encisors were next to her front teeth she looked like dracula. She belongs to a private dentist but as a NHS patient. My daughter was very unhappy with her teeth so her dentist referrd her to a NHS Orthodontist who suggested moving her upper teeth to create an adequate gap in order to fill the gap with a bridge. Her dentist insisted that the bridge work could not be done on the NHS so we had no alternative but to agree to pay privatley. At the time he said that it would cost £400-500. What he forgot to say was that price was for each tooth. We have now found out that we could get the treatment on the NH – but he insists that it would be classed as cosmetic even though her bite was out of alignment. She is now 16 years old. Can you offer any advice please. Thank you

I hate my smile, and try to avoid showing my teeth to people.

Q.
Hello, I would appreciate your help. I hate my smile, and try to avoid showing my teeth to people. I saw a photo of me recently which had been taken when I was smiling and showing my teeth, and I was so horrified I felt like getting pliers and pulling my top two incisors out there and then. The trouble is, I have already worn braces for over two years in my teens (I’m 22 now), with rubber bands and everything. This was mainly done to correct a canine ‘snaggletooth’, instead of the other option which was to remove 4 molars, one in each corner of my mouth, in order to make more room for the canine tooth to come down to the same level as the other teeth. I was put off by the latter choice because the dentist warned that this could cause my face to have a ‘sunken in’ appearance, but I almost wish I had now, because my mouth still looks crowded. I have a very narrow smile, no matter how hard I try to stretch my lips at the sides, and I still have an overbite, and my top four incisors slant outwards compared to the canines on each side. Think Kylie Minogue’s smile, as although I have healthy teeth my smile looks narrow, showing relatively few teeth, and toothy. Is there any way I could have these large teeth fixed and my smile ‘widened’, without braces again? I would not want veneers either, as these would only make me teeth look even bigger than they are now. I want my front two teeth made smaller, shortened and straightened, pushed further back in relation to my lips so that there is no gap between them and the bottom two front incisors when my mouth is closed, and the two incisors either side on the top row just straightened. I would have this done even if it meant extracting the top four incisor teeth and implanting false ones. The length of my two front teeth is also made worse by the fact that I brushed them too hard when I was younger, causing the gumline above these to recede. Please could you give me an indication as to the possible procedures and cost, many thanks.

i have a significant overbite and a small lower jaw. Do I have to pay for the surgery and how long do i have to wear braces?

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009
Q.
Hi I have a significant overbite and a small lower jaw. I believe this was due to a dentist taking out the incorrect number of teeth when i was 8 years old. WHen I was 17 I went to an orthodontist who said I would need surgery to move lower jaw forward and braces which would cost £2000. I am now 25 and have been given the impression that I would need to pay for treatment and surgery as its not offered on nhs. Is this right? Also how long do you have to wear braces for before the surgery? Many thanks
