Can you gimme some information about expandable jaw retainer?

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009
Q.
Hi Dr. Moore, I,ve heard of a new type of expandable jaw retainer that you wear behind your teeth to widen a narrow smile. I’m very interested in learning more about this, but I’m having trouble finding any info on it. Is it just too new right now? If you know anything about this, I’ll take all the info/suggestions you have. How long do you think it would have to stay on? How much would it cost? What’s it called? Could any Dentist/Ortho do it? Also, are ALL dentist’s considered cosmetic dentist’s or should I look for one that specailizes in it. Thank You.

How much I would be looking at paying for a new bridge?

Friday, August 21st, 2009
Q.
Hello, can you tell me how much I would be looking at paying for a new bridge. I have one at the moment that has slipped and needs replacing. It is the 4 teeth at the front. My dentist told me about 6 months ago, if I wanted it replaced it would cost £700, but if it moved or started to slip it would cost £300. It has now started to slip and there is a large cap around my gum area. after seeing my dentis saturday, he told me it would now cost £800. I said to him that he said before that if it slipped it would cost £300, and he said the NHS has changed and it is classed as cosmetic unless I am in pain. But he did tell me that if it slipped and needed to be replaced it would only be £300, so I dont know what to believe, is he trying to get more money out of me. Any info would be great. thanks.

If I went through any cosmetic dentistry would I be put to sleep?

Sunday, August 16th, 2009
Q.
Hiya, I’m 19 yrs old and i have the worst teeth. They’re wonky and i have (what feels like) a huge gap. my teeth are yellow and if i’m honest, i don’t brush them as much as I should do. I have a massive phobia of dentists, i haven’t been in about 6 years. the last time i had a filling i had to be put to sleep. I work in a physicatric hospital and the paitnets all pick out my teeth which is quiet hurtful. i was wondering, would veneers be the answer? and if i went through with any cosmetic dentistry, would i be able to be put to sleep? thanks

What is the difference between the NHS and private crowns

Saturday, August 8th, 2009
Q.
Hi Here’s my situation i was playing football and in a freak accident i went up for a header and the opposition knocked half of my central incisor and three quarters of my lateral incisor. I want to go private on the the insurance but they’ll only accomodate 200 pounds. Will the nhs crown be shaped and correct to my own teeth, and also what would the difference be between the nhs and private. I will look forward to your reply. Thanks

Can i get a full makeover and be able to pay over a long period of time?

Monday, August 3rd, 2009
Q.
Hello Dr Solanki, I am a pretty desperate person of late. Desperate for a smile that I have never had. I am 53yrs old, and have always been scared of dentists since my youth, parents were poor so could not afford treatment. I dont have the funds right now for treatment, so as time goes on they will get worse. I rarely smile, as my teeth protrude, they are breaking up, I know they will get worse and right now I cant do a thing about it…but would love to. i have seen great work done on programmes such as “10 years younger” and wished I could get treatment like that. It would help me so much physically and mentally and more. I take one look at the prices and my heart sinks knowing I cant get there. Therefore I am asking in a really genuine but desperate attempt to get help. Is there any way I can get a full makeover (I do need it..)and be able to pay over a long period of time? Alternatively, in exchange for the work done, I would be more than happy to promote your work and business with referrals. I can see you laughing and about to delete me, but I am not a crank, it is a serious offer. I just do not know which way to turn. There are many people who trawl the internet for cosmetic practices, and I can certainly promote yours, of that I have no problem. If you saw my mouth, you would understand why I am asking. I am a good person, and I would really promote your work continuously through the many people I talk to, especially women (I sell nail care products), they spend…! I would hope you do not disregard this as a crank, absolutely not, but if you feel in your heart you could do it I would deeply appreciate it. If it is a no, I would understand. kind regards

I was wondering how much crowding can inman aligner fix?

Saturday, August 1st, 2009
Q.
Hi, I am a 21 yr old and I am just questioning my suitability for the inman aligner. I have had a consultation with an orthodontist and I was told I would have to wear fixed braces for a year and a half . I didn’t go ahead with the procedure as it was too costly. As I am only particularly concerned with my top front six teeth the Inman Aligner is of much interest to me. There is minor to severe crowding on my top teeth. My left central incisor slightly overlaps the right and my left lateral incisor is in a forward direction due to years of thumbsucking. I also have a canine tooth which sticks out. My top arch is also very narrow because of the sucking. Im wondering how much crowding can the inman aligner fix? Also is it possible for me to send a photo of my teeth to you for a better understanding? I have a n appointment to see a dentist about the inman aligner but I’d hate to wast money on the consultation fee for then to be told I’m not suitable. I’d greatly appreciate a quick response, thank you
