I would like to know if having braces fitted would alter my faceshape considerably?

Saturday, March 28th, 2009
Q.
Lingual Braces. I have quite crooked bottom teeth. My uppers are straight, but as my teeth where overcrowded as a child and teeth upper extracted to allow room it lead to the lowers crowding. I always knew that a brace was needed but my dentist always said not to worry and I didnt really need one. I went for an Invisilign consultation this week. The Orthodontist didnt even look at my teeth close up. He just asked me to bite down etc while he sat at the other side of a desk. He told me invisilign would not work for me and I need metal braces. He also advised I need them for upper and lower teeth. I have a consultation with a Lingual orthodontist in a few weeks. I would like to know if having braces fitted would alter my faceshape considerably? (Im happy with it as it is). How long do you wear retainers for after treatment and are they invisible? And the possible cost? I know this can go up to £8500. I look forward to hearing back from you. Thanks

After removal of my wisdom tooth, my teeth are spacing out

Saturday, March 28th, 2009
Q.
Before I had my wisdom teeth removed I had beautiful straight teeth. But in the past four years since the surgery some of my front teeth have spaced out. It bothers me because I always used to get compliments on my teeth. What can be done besides braces or veneers to close these gaps and s it expensive?

Teeth grinding

Friday, March 27th, 2009
Q.
I am 54 with small worn down teeth from grinding. I hate them and feel they are very ageing. My dentist says there would be little point having anything cosmetic done because I would just grind them down/away/chip any work. I do believe him, but hate my smile so much that I think false teeth would look better than my own, though they are healthy, just very soft. My 2 front teeth are a filling, they were so bad.

I still have two baby teeth iam 27

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009
Q.
I was wondering if you could give me some advice re: eye teeth…I am 27 and my eye teeth have never developed properly and as a result I still have my two baby teeth. On one side the tooth is severely protruding over the baby tooth and on the other, it has not come down at all and the tooth below is wearing away. My smile is therefore not what it could be and as I’m an actress, it is getting increasingly hard to cover up. Is there anyway to fix this problem without the aid of braces as getting those would probably not be an option within my chosen industry… Please help – it’s really beginning to get me down!!

Advice on cosmetic dentistry

Monday, March 23rd, 2009
Q.
Hi there I require some advice on both cosmetic dentistry and dealing with an anxious ( to say the least ) patient. I’m 27 and I require some dental work the cosmetic part being my front tooth now is slowly eroding and decaying truthfully now it’s getting worse and I’m starting to avoid speaking to people. My back teeth are in quite an awful state now as well. throughout my life being a neglected child and turning for a short period to making myself sick and again truthfully neglecting my own dental health. The upshot being I’m terrified of needles. Over the years I’ve had some treatments usually via force but never found a dentist that has been patient enough to treat me long term. Either that or use sedation such as Ketamin or at least 8 general anaethetics neither of which I was happy with. WHilst I’m not in any pain I do feel I need to at least start seeking some help before I lose my front tooth and suffer other consequences as a result of my back teeth being the way they are. Ideally I’d like to see a dentist who will see me not in the dental chair just a one on one discuss a basic plan with me. I’m happy to work with hypnotherapy (I have given birth twice and self hypnotising not required or wanted any pain relief) When I search I can’t find any in the local area is there a directory? For the interim I will not be able to have any pain relief in any form nor have lengthy treatments because I’m breastfeeding my young son. Thank you very much for your time
