There’s no space for a canine tooth to grow down, what do you advise?

Friday, March 11th, 2011
Q.

hi, i have a canine tooth that has grown alot higher than the rest of my teeth but there is not enough space for it to be pulled down, i also have all four wisdom teeth growing through so my teeth feel loose and soft.
i have had the canine tooth since i was 8 and it grew through after having my milk teeth out to make room for my canine teeth to grow down, i have been passed round numberous of orthodontists and was told numberous of things in the mean time. im more worried now with my wisdom growing through that my teeth will become more crooked than what they are already….what do you suggest.

How can I enhance the shape and size of my canines?

Monday, January 31st, 2011
Q.

Hi – I’m looking to enhance and enlarge the shape of the “dog” like teeth (both lower & upper) and close the gaps between a few teeth. I’d also like to whiten them.

Would you be able to advise if this could be done and treatments and possible prices.

Thanks.

I am a mature student and my teeth make me feel depressed – can I still get treatment on the NHS?

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011
Q.

Hello, I have just turned 19 years old and I’v been very self conscious of my teeth for years and even been bullied when I was younger, which led to moving schools, but the bullying still continued which affected my attendence and the choice of going straight to college when I was 16. I have now been in college since September and have recently had some harsh comments made about my teeth by a class member which has really knocked my self-confidence down even more but I really don’t want it to ruin my education this time. When I was 13/14 I was refered to an orthadontist by my dentist where they took an X-Ray and a mould of my teeth and told me I needed an operation to remove a canine tooth which never came through as it is stuck up in the roof of my mouth before I could have braces as there is a chance it could come through later in life, also my mouth is overcrowded and needed a couple of teeth removed at the same time. I could of had the chance to have all this done privatley as I was under 16 and my problem was pretty serious, but I was young and at the time had a strong fear of needles and seriously regret not having it done. As my problem is quite serious, I was wondering if I could have this done on the NHS as I cannot afford to pay thousands to go private as I am only a student, and live at home with my mum who is currently recieving benefits. Also it is seriously effecting my self esteem levels and making me feel severly depressed in myself.
Many thanks.

What are my best options to correct a protruding canine tooth and slight overbite?

Thursday, December 2nd, 2010
Q.

Good Afternoon Dr. Verma,

I visited two orthodontists and a dentist for my right upper canine tooth that is slightly protruding.

The first orthodontists, said that i needed to remove both left and right 2nd premolars and wear braces for two years then retainers, because i also have a slight overbite.

The second said the same thing. but i only need it on top.

The dentist said that since its the canine tooth that’s protruding, i could wear a hawley retainer to pull/push it in for a year.

Do you think the hawley retainer would actually work?

And is it really necessary for them to remove the premolars if it is slightly protruding?

Can I have a bridge fitted for a crowned tooth that has a hair line fracture?

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010
Q.

I have a crown on my right canine tooth, the root has an airline fracture,i have been to a private dentist who has taken several x rays and impressions,i was expecting him to say i could have a bridge, but he has said the root should be surgically removed. I also have 3 other crowns the left canine being one of them and the same has been suggested for this the root is not damaged on the left side.A plate with false teeth, I am in a state of shock there is no way I could tolerate a plate.Should I get a second opinion?.

Is tooth removal the only option with black teeth? I assume they are rotten but they’re not causing my any pain?

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010
Q.
On my top jaw my teeth between my canines have become black and smaller, due to a lack of dental hygene. Now I am starting to be more hygenic, but I fear that if I see a dentist he/she will want to simply remove the black ones. They don’t cause me any pain, just look quite horrible,so is removal the only option when teeth have become so black?I assume they are rotten, but obviously don’t know for certain.Any suggestions please.,
