I Have Brown Stains On My Teeth As I Smoke And Drink Coffee. What Can I Do To Get Rid Of Them?

Wednesday, October 9th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Moore, I currently have brown stains on the front of my teeth that are ingrained on the lines where my fillings have been put in and from smoking and drinking tea/coffee, is there a way to remove them? They are very ugly and noticeable and making me not want to smile any more at all! Can you help me with this? They are horizontal brownish lines and on four of my teeth every time I smile I can see them. If there is a way to fix them how much would it cost and what solutions could there be? I smoke around about five cigarettes a day and drink quite a few cups of tea and coffee daily!

What would be the most effective way to remove the yellow/brown patches from my teeth, which were a side-effect to antibiotics?

Q.
My teeth are very small and have always been stained with yellow/brown patches. I’m told this is as a result of being on antibiotics for the first 4 years of my life. I have started being very conscious of my teeth and don’t like to smile in photos. I’m wondering if teeth whitening would be a good option for me? I have also looked at veneers and just wonder which is the most effective way of whitening my teeth but also doing something about the size and shape if possible. Also wondering about potential cost?,

Q.
My 3 year old son has suffered from serious ear infections and has regularly been perscribed with strong oral medication. Since these treatments he has developed brown stains on the back of his bottom front teeth. I have always brushed his teeth as advised especially focusing on this area. However, the problem is persisting is there any advice or treatment that would help solve this problem,,
