There are brown stains on my son’s teeth as a result of ear infection medication. What can be done about them?

Q. My 3 year old son has suffered from serious ear infections and has regularly been perscribed with strong oral medication. Since these treatments he has developed brown stains on the back of his bottom front teeth. I have always brushed his teeth as advised especially focusing on this area. However, the problem is persisting is there any advice or treatment that would help solve this problem,,
A. Surface staining in children can be caused by certain types of bacteria , usually ones that protect the teeth from decay causing types of bug. So it may not be all bad news. However it can be a social issue so ask your dentist to do a gentle tickle polish to reduce the build up and confirm all is fine underneath . Rob
