I sucked my thumb as a child and my teeth stick out

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008
Q.
Throughout my childhood, i very stupidly sucked my thumb, which has now left my top row of teeth sticking a lot further out than my bottom row, and because of this, I don’t smile and lose my confidence when speaking to people and tend to put my hand over my mouth when talking, what do you think that I would actually need to do to correct this and help me smile? Please help me. Thank you

I have malocclusion will I need jaw surgery to put it right

Saturday, May 31st, 2008
Q.
Hello. I would like some advice please? I am a 23 year old woman and i hadn’t been to the dentist for 10 years up until i went again when i was 19. There was nothing major that needed to be done – about 7 fillings due to tooth decay, but other than that, i was told my oral hygiene was good. My Dentist did however also tell me that i have malocclusion. She explained that this is where the teeth don\’t join together correctly. My bottom row of teeth come out slightly. This has made me very self conscious about the way i look. I have spoken to my Dentist about it on a couple of occasions and i have expressed that i would like something done about it, but she kept putting me off by saying treatment would be too expensive and possibly unpleasant. I have found this quite disappointing so, could i please ask for your advice? I was told that surgery is probably what will put it right – the thought of having my bottom jaw-bone broken somewhat unsettles me but i also thought about braces… Could this also be a possibility to put it right? I would be most grateful if you could help as this is something i really want to have put right but i don\’t know where to go to have this procedure done. I look forward to your response.

I have a slight midline shift between my upper and lower teeth will braces work

Saturday, May 31st, 2008
Q.
I currently have braces for my upper arch only due to financial issues. I have a slight mid-line discrepancy between both arches. After the top braces are removed and my finances permit, I would like to know if this mid-line discrepancy can be fixed by braces on the lower arch only? Thanks.

My lower incisors are overcrowded and overlapping can I replace the teeth with an implant

Saturday, May 31st, 2008
Q.
The incisors of my lower teeth have grown overcrowded, resulting in some in them overlapping somewhat and also forcing one to protrude about 2mm higher than the others. I can’t see how a brace would help as there seems very little space to play with (I may be wrong, I often am). Is there anything I can do, like have the teeth removed and replaced with an implant, or is this too drastic given that the teeth are essentially healthy and my problem is purely cosmetic?

My upper teeth are crooked and twisted but cannot have metal braces will invisalign work

Saturday, May 31st, 2008
Q.
My upper teeth care slightly crooked at the front. I had braces as a child but have been told that the orthodondist used old fashioned techniques that often go wrong. The two teeth immediately on either side of my two front teeth are slightly twisted round and sit a bit behind them. I have attempted braces about a year ago but as an adult can\’t really deal with having them, not being able to speak etc. However, I really want straight teeth (especially having already gone through so much pain, extractions etc to get them!). Do you think the invisalign braces would work for me? Thanks in advance.

My teeth don’t show when I smile and my top tooth needs braces

Thursday, May 29th, 2008
Q.
I have two questions:
1) The tooth adjacent to my middle top two teeth is at an angle and allows air though when I trying to say ‘s’ and as a result makes it difficult for me to speak correctly. I am 42 so can this tooth be straightened with a brace or would it require a crown or are there other alternatives?2) When smiling my teeth don’t show, I think I have short gums. Can anything be done so that my teeth show when I smile? Many thanks.

I had a fixed brace them my wisdom teeth came through and now they are crooked

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008
Q.
I had a fixed brace as a teenager however my wisdom teeth grew in very soon after having my brace removed meaning that my bottom teeth are no longer straigth and my top front teeth have been pushed forward making them crooked, as well as my bite being completely offline. I am unsure what is would be the best and fastest treatment for me and would welcome any advice you could give. Thank you.

I have ugly crooked teeth and need braces in Ireland

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008
Q.
I am a 20 year old who needs braces badly. I have severly crooked teeth and not only do they look so ugly they cause me severe tooth aches. It is too expensive for me to get braces in ROI (Republic of Ireland) as I am the youngest of six children and there is no money left in our family. I would like to know what my other options are. My teeth trouble me physically and mentally. I never smile. Please help in anyway you can.
