My new crown, looks great but I can’t eat on it, so sensitive when I try to chew or bite into anything, the pain is so severe it’s unbearable

Q.
I have got clearstep braces which is costing quite a bit but because of this treatment I need to stay with the dentist I have however before my braces I had to undergo other necessary work, ie fillings in two back lower teeth and a crown on another back lower tooth which he claimed needed redoing. My new crown, looks great but I can’t eat on it, so sensitive when I try to chew or bite into anything, the pain is so severe it’s unbearable. My dentist says just use sensodyne toothpaste and it will be okay??? I have been doing this for six months now! On the other lower side (new fillings) I have had terrible toothache with swelling which he said was an abscess, gave me amoxicillin which did’nt get rid of it! I have now been told to go back after christmas! I am still in agony, my face is swollen and I am unable to eat and now looking forward to a very painful christmas. I don’t know what to do as I have so far spent thousands of pounds and don’t really want to go elsewhere, what can I do to ease the pain?

Trigeminal Neuralgia and bacteria infection in the root

Monday, March 23rd, 2009
Q.
After having a root canal filling my tooth didn’t settle and I had to go back for a second time. Not long after I started having severe pain when pressure was put on the tooth.I had several visits to the dentist for a period of 2 years following this each time the dentist unable to find anything wrong. I developed severe pain in my face and on a visit to the doctor was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia. That was now 4 years ago! On a recent visit to my dentist I mentioned to him that I felt the tooth still was causing me discomfort at times so he xrayed it. There seems to be a pocket of bacteria at one the roots of the tooth. He suggested having the tooth removed. My question is that if the bacteria has been there after all these years is it safe to remove the tooth and will i need anibotics after? Also do you think this may have been the cause of my trigeminal Neuralgia?

Basically i have had an abcess for several years

Monday, February 9th, 2009
Q.
Hi, Basically i have had an abcess for several years, under a filling i had in one of my bottom teeth. I have had a fear of dentists ever since having a bad experience years back. This tooth have now decayed away and is left open. If i accidently touch it it causes unbearable amounts of pain. I think it has spread to the tooth behind it aswell, as this has started to become very painful. The tooth that has decayed away, now i can see a black patch that is very sensitive. Some weeks there is no pain, then suddenly if comes back with a vengeange! I have a dentist appointment next week to get checked over and get nessacery treatment. What am i going to expect as im quite worried! Thanks
