October 8th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes, I have my teeth in good condition except my upper right lateral. It’s much too far back from it’s line. I just feel bad about it and I always hate it because it ruins my smile. I am so very nervous just because of this one tooth. I want to fix it or have it repositioned. Could you kindly tell me how many types of treatments which can I fix that without braces. How much time it will take? How much will it cost? Please do reply me I am much tensed 🙁
Thanks.

I Had My Gums Stretched Through The NHS But Now They’re Almost Non-Existent, It’s Affecting My Social Life. What Can I Do?

October 8th, 2013
Q.

I’m 34 and very depressed about my receding gums. I had my gums stretched on the NHS and I feel like this has done nothing as my gums are now non-existent and my teeth are yellow, what do you suggest. I’ve given up hope and I’ve got no confidence. Do you think I need false teeth. I’m thinking about re-mortgaging to find funds to get my teeth sorted. Doesn’t help that I’m single so I feel like I’m going to be on my own forever now as my teeth look awful. Someone thought I was in my forties the other day. I reckon it’s because my teeth make me look a lot older. Feel sorry for myself as most of my mates smoke and abuse themselves yet they have nice pink healthy gums and white teeth to be proud of. I hope you can help me sort this out.

How Much Does It Cost To Have Some Wire Bonding To Fix A Gap Opening Up, And Is This The Correct Procedure?

October 7th, 2013
Q.

Hi
I recently closed my 3.5mm wide front teeth gap with Orthofill band it only took me almost 2 months but now I have gap in each side so I start wearing the band for the four front teeth but I know it will create another gap eventually. Some one advised me to do small wire bonding for my two front teeth so they don’t re-open back but I haven’t got a clue how much it would cost me and with the other gaps I have do you think doing bonding can be the solution and if it is what sort of price am I looking? Thank you for taking your time out.

Can Tooth Grinding Cause The Misalignment Of Teeth? If So, How Would I Fix This Problem?

October 7th, 2013
Q.

Hello, I am looking for an advice regarding teeth straightening. I have recently noticed that my teeth (front ones) are becoming slightly curved in appearance – they are not as straight (vertically) as they used to be.  I am not sure if this is related to the teeth grinding problem I am going through at the moment, and can I also ask whether teeth grinding can affect teeth alignment? Can you please offer any advice regarding this matter as I’d like to fix this problem in the future. Many thanks.

How Much Will It Cost To Get Braces After I Graduate?

October 7th, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr Hussein Shaffie. What I would like to discuss with you is that I had a brace for around about 2 -2 and a half years in my teenage years. A few years have passed since and I’m now 21 years old, and have noticed that one of my front teeth has begun to overlap the adjacent tooth (this was the structure prior to my brace). I’m currently a student at the moment and as you can imagine cannot afford to get it fixed but would like to in the future. Can you estimate how much this would cost based on my description?

Kind regards, I thank you in advance for any information you can provide me with this issue.

As A Sufferer Of Periodontal Disease, Do You Know Of Anywhere That Can Provide Treatment At Low Cost?

October 7th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Moore, I have a question to put forward. Do you know if the NHS provides periodontal treatment?

My gums are receding because of this, and my teeth are no longer aligned. My teeth now protrude out of my mouth and I can hardly close them.

I have suffered some bone loss, and I am very desperate find somewhere that can fix my teeth at an affordable amount.

I have also made regular dental check-ups in recent times, but have never been referred to a specialist of any kind.

Where can I obtain treatment at low cost? I really hope you can provide an answer to ease my worries with this matter. Thank you.

I Have Researched Different Options On How To Fix A Gummy Smile, Which Course Of Action Is Best To Consider?

October 4th, 2013
Q.

I have a gummy smile.

I am trying to find which options are best for me.

I have seen two dentists and they don’t seem to have all the facts. They only seem to think that veneers are the answer; they weren’t aware of any other options.

But from my research, there seems to be the following solutions:  Lip repositioning surgery and/or Botox, orthodontic treatment, orthognathic surgery, crown lengthening and veneers afterwards, gum removal by laser or scalpel. I am currently having orthodontic treatment, as I was led to believe this would solve the problem. The orthodontist has now told me that it can’t, so I need to seek other solutions. I have had lip repositioning surgery and Botox, but this did not work. Plus these are both temporary solutions.

What other solutions are there? Who can I consult with to get an overview of all of the options?

I Have Chronic Periodontal Disease, Will All-On-Six Implants Stop The Disease In Future?

October 4th, 2013
Q.

I have chronic periodontal disease and bone loss, and wonder if I can I have the all-on-6 implants, will they last or will they fail because of my problems and is it true once teeth are removed, so will the gum disease be removed? What problems can arise with the implants, how often do you have them removed for cleaning? Can you still get abscess with implants as I do with my teeth now, and is it the type of implant that makes them suitable for people like myself? Everyone says that they are the solution, for gum disease and bone loss. I only hope you agree, many thanks.

Will I Be Able To Get Dental Implants For Free Whilst Claiming Job-Seekers Allowance?

October 4th, 2013
Q.

Hi, I have been looking for a good dentist for a long time and finally I saw your website and I was relieved. I have got some quite extensive problems with my teeth but I have not got the amount of money the dental implants are priced at, therefore I wanted to ask you, If I’m claiming job-seekers allowance, do I still have to pay the full price for dental implants? Also, is it possible to stabilise dentures? If yes, how much do they cost if I was claiming job-seekers allowance? Thank you in advance for your consideration, I hope to hear from you soon.
