My wisdom teeth are being removed. Will they take out all of the root?

Q.
i have had toothache for almost 3-4 weeks, i was told that it was my wisdom tooth that needed to be extracted but the root of the tooth was crooked, i am worried that the dentist will not be able to take the full tooth and root out, what will happen if some of the root is left in, and will nmy dentist remove it all before i leave the chair??

If your dentist was unsure about removing the tooth he would refer you to a specialist for the treatment. If your dentist is removing the tooth all the roots will be removed at the 1 visit.

Jenny Williams Says :

I just went to the dentist to have a crown replaced. There has been a bad taste from underneath the crown for over a year now. The crown came loose a year ago and the dentist cemented it back without checking if the root was ok.. I told him I was concerned about the health of the root. Today he removed the crown and said the whole root of the tooth was rotten and needed to be taken out.

I spent 45 minutes in the chair. The root was so rotten it kept breaking off. The dentist was not able to remove the whole root. He said there is a bit left in my jaw and said he did not want to damage my jaw by trying to get it out and that it would be ok to leave the remainder of the root there.

I am concerned about this as it doesnt sound right. Surely the remaining root may get infected in future?

Id be grateful for your advice – thank you
