my denture is uncomfortable are there any advanced materials available

Q. I am 60 and have been wearing a partial denture for about 18 months. (4 teeth, upper left jaw). I found the “immediate” plastic denture uncomfortable and had it replaced by a more expensive denture with metal fixings and brace – but I find it even worse. It looks great, but I find it constantly irritating; and my lips get dry and sore. Are there any advanced materials or techniques that might help me come to terms with wearing a denture? I have investigated the possibility of implants, but I would need extensive bone grafting as I lost two of the teeth many years ago.

A. You could have a valplast denture which is a flexible type of acrylic, musch softer than a metal or hard acrylic one. It is supported by the gums as well as the teeth. It doesn’t last as long but it should be more comfortable if made properly
Kind regards
