My crowns look grey in day light what are my option please help

Q. I am 35 years old and about ten years ago a dentist capped my two front teeth a very dirty off white colour on the NHS. I was not aware of the procedure and thought he was going to put veneers over them. Sorry to sound so dumb but was not very informed. A few years ago I had my teeth whitened and the two caps stayed much the same. Outside in the daylight my top row of teeth look grey and dirty and as a women of 35 you can imagine the impact on my confidence. I have been told by several cosmetic dentists that they do not want to remove the caps and replace them and if I get veneers on the teeth left and right to the two front ones I am still left with two discoloured teeth. Please help.

A.

This is a common problem and no whitening product will change the colour of the porcelain crowns you have on the front teeth.
I feel changing the crowns over is probably a likely option to match the colour of your other whitened teeth, if the underlying teeth are healthy.
keep in mind if teeth have had root canal therapy the natural teeth underneath the crowns tend to go dark with time and this would have to be discussed in detail prior to changing any crowns to ensure this is addressed as well. (If this is the case).
I agree that having the teeth crowned either side of the already crowned teeth will not help you solve the colour issue.
