My 13 yr old has a large white mark on her front tooth what can be done to fix the problem

Q. My 13 year old daughter has a large white mark on her front tooth. She is very self conscious of this and people often say to her that she has something stuck on her tooth. It covers about 40% of just one tooth. What is the best way to get rid of this mark? Our dentist was quite dismissive and said she should wait until she’s 18 to do anything, but didn’t really tell us what could be done?

A. I see a lot of children with these white marks it is very common it is often due the tooth not forming correctly.  You should find a dentist who has air abrasion so the outer surfaces can be gently removed and then a cosmetic filling can be placed to block it out.  I have carried out this procedure out on children as young as 10 as they were getting bullied at school.

Hi I have a broken tooth on the upper left side. I have filled it with Zinconol cerment which is tougher
than Sitemp. However i have Denseal permanent cerment and was wondering whether I should use this
cerment. I dont have a dentist and there is a waiting list to see one. Zinconol sets hard but its not as
strong as Denseal cerment. What cerment should I use. What is the white line at the bottom of the
lower teeth near the gum line on some of the bottom teeth. Kind regards John
