Is There Anywhere You Would Recommend For Me To Go Abroad To Get Dental Implants?

Q.
Hi Mark. I have just paid nearly four thousand for two dental implants, and I was quoted almost fifteen hundred for two bridges for my upper right jaw. Would I get this cheaper by going abroad to get this work done? I was thinking about going to Croatia as I am familiar with certain areas of the country. Could you make a recommendation for anywhere else outside of the UK within a price range that I can afford. Do you know how many visits it would take for me to get this work done also?
A.
Personally I would not recommend that you travel overseas for complex dentistry. Every week at my own practice we come across cases of botched work that has to be redone. You are taking a large risk. Then there is the question of your after-care and maintenance? What if you have complications following the surgery or bone grafting? What if the bridges or implants fail? It would always be my recommendation to have the best clinicians possible carry out your treatment so that risks of failure or infection are reduced and that you would also get the very best possible job done.

If you are having very high quality treatment done then it would be usual to have the implants restored initially with provisional crowns or bridges and then 6 months later to have the final restorations. If bone grafting is required it could take longer. Things are being seriously rushed if only one or two visits are suggested.

When it comes to investing in your health and well-being I’d advise you to have treatment with a very experienced implant dentist at home who you know will always be there to help if you have complications and for your long term care. Kind regards, Mark.
