Is there a temporary fix for missing tooth?

Q. I am missing a tooth at the bottom near the front of my mouth. I think it is number 13. I am a soldier in the army and i am about to deploy to Iraq. What kind of temporary fix can a dentist do to fill this gap until i get back? It is so unbecoming.,
A. It should be possible for you to get a denture made, quite quickly which would fill the gap. Alternatively, it may be possible to have a bridge made. This would depend on the amount of time you have before your deployment, and would involve the preperation of the teeth either side of the gap at an intial appointment. This would then be followed a week to two weeks later by a fit appointment. I wish you well. Kindest Regards. Dr Kailesh Solanki
