Is bone jaw too thin for implants?

Q. Hello, My two front teeth are missing and i have been wearing a denture for some 13 years now. I am looking at the possinility of implants and was wandering about the shrinkage problem with the jaw bone, is there a recommended minimum for implants ? Also i was wandering what would happen if the jaw bone was too thin ? thanks,
A. You would need a thorough examination and scan of your jaws to measure the amount of bone available for implants. If the bone has shrunk away to an extent where the placement of a stable, aesthetic tooth is not possible then the bone could be rebuilt prior to the placement of the implants.
