Im 54 and i have receding gums what can i do?

Q. Hi, i have always looked after my teeth and they are still in good condition. however, i have now got receding gums at the back of my lower teeth. this has affected 2 teeth each side. next to these teeth i have a missing tooth each side. removed when i was a child. i am 54 now. i have been told by dentists over the years that i am brushing my teeth too hard. can i have crowns fitted over the teeth that have the receding gums and can i have implants to fill the gaps between the teeth, thus protecting my gums from further damage from brushing.

A. Yes you could try this approach to protect the teeth. If the recession is minimal i tend to use a resin filling bonded to the root to protect then from your brushing. Implants will work well for the missing teeth if enough bone exists.
