i was on steroids for a number of years this has led to teeth loss

Q. Dr Andrew, about 4/5 years ago i was diagnosed with retro peritonial fibrosis, i was then put on a heavy course of steroids for for a number of years, this led to my teeth loss as i was prone to a lot of infection, my dentist rather than saving any teeth just used to pull them out, i always remember, i have a couple of solid teeth, he had to break them off to get them out, so now i have dentures, the same has happened to my lower jaw, although i,m off the steroids, i only have three lower teeth, the dentures i have are useless as they are loose and bottem ones no good,How can i get them to make a good set of dentures as the ones i have are always loose and so thick, also could i have any chance on NHS implant treatment even as a practice patient, i am 44 years old, or can they make a slim set of dentures, i like that picture of your patient with one tooth, and then fully restored set, any advice would be helpful. kind regards

A. Hi

I’m afraid you won’t be able to get implants on the NHS at any practice although you will probably be able to get a new set of dentures on the NHS.
My advice would be to try a teaching hospital in case they can do anything for you at a reduced cost, I guess it will depend on the budget you have

Thanks  Andrew
