I want to save my tooth from rotting but is root canal treatment really around £300?

Q.
Dear Dr Rob, i have had tooth rot running through my teeth for some years now.Subsequently i have lost a lot of teeth. Having visted the dentist 11/2/2011,another rotten touth has been found.I am on the n.h.s and have been told that it will not come under n.h.s funding and unless i want to pay for it it is not worth saving the tooth.I have been told it will be in the region of £300 ,i would like to try and save the tooth. Is the cost of route canal treatment this much? The dentist is worried also that the route canal will not work.I sure there is not much you can say but as i wil have to have denture i am concerned. Would it better to loose them slowly and then spend i dont know how much have permanent teeth fitted. Any thing you can tell me or advise me would be helpfull. Yours gratefully

A second opinion from someone who can do a clinical examination, and assess the history is needed if you are not sure. Paying a private fee does not mean that the tooth will definitely be saved, both dentists should give you an idea of the risk that you take.

the #19 molar needs a root canal and i do not want to pay for it, i was going to get it pulled because its relaly hurting now, but the dentist i went to highly advised agianst it because he said the bone structure of the tooth was still in tact and pulling this main molar could cause other problems down the line. i am wondering what i should do. i need an implant on another tooth and i was going to use the money i samved on extracting the #19 molar towards the implant

Its always better to save your own teeth so try to hang onto to the tooth and consider an implant on the other one at a later date?

Hi there I am looking at getting some dentistry work done. I am happy withmy smile in general but have noticed my teeth have worn away over the years. I would like them to be built up again if possible; I believe this is called compossite filling or bonding. If you could let me know approximate pricing that would be great. many thanks
