I’ve been looking at the possibilities of having a bridge or an implant, but ideally i’d like to save the tooth that i have already.

Q. I had a fixed appliance for 3 and half years to correct a number of issues, the biggest of which was an unerrupted upper left 3. The canine was brought into place and then i had a retainer to wear to keep everything in place. I stopped wearing the retainer after 2 years, and very gradually, the canine has been slipping backwards. Its starting to become irritating, not just athetically but also its infringing on the space that my tongue would normally occupy. What would be the best way to correct this problem? I’ve been looking at the possibilities of having a bridge or an implant, but ideally i’d like to save the tooth that i have already. Is there anyway of not having to have another fixed appliance?

A. Clearstep and Invisalign clear positioners may be able to help. A set of impressions , photographs and XRays are required to  give an idea of the likely outcome, timescale and cost .
The cost of the opinion is likely to be £3-400 the treatment costs vary up to £4000.
These systems recommend lifetime retention.
The implant route would probably take 6-9months guide price £2-3000 inc extractions and temporary replacement of the tooth , minor bone grafts etc.
An initial consultation is free of charge at StJohns Dental Practice Birmingham ( Clearstep vs Astra tech implant ). Please mention the weblink from the Cosmetic Guide when you call (0121 643 0610)
