A. I am unsure which tooth you are referring to- if it is tooth number 8- this – as we dentists would class as your back, wisdom tooth. We wouldn’t normally place an implant in this area- as it odesn’t aid function all that much If it is a diferent tooth a little close to the front, then implant is a godd option to regain a fixed tooth- as it is a toth in its own right- and will not compromise the health of the teeth next to it. Apicectomies are an option- as long as you are aware that that the success is quite unpredictable and in the treatment requires the dentis to take some of the bone away from around the tooth. his means that if the apicectomy fails, then you may want an implant in the future. You may need to have a bone graft n that area to restore the bone before an implant is placed.
