i have read that implants can only be fitted within 3 months of tooth extraction is this true?

Q. I am in my early thirties and have horrendous damage to my teeth through self abuse such as bulimia and i also had an accident when i was younger for which i was given high amounts of fluoride which when my adult teeth came through they were severly stained and very brittle. i have now had about 12 teeth removed in total and i wear a top denture plate for the missing ones but nothing on the bottom plate as i have never been advised or tried for one. i have always been very self conscious about my smile but now it is horrendous my plate does not fit well and it irritates me constantly even though i have had it for over a year now and i end up taking it out and not waering it when im home, although my husband is very good about this its not exactly very sexy especially for someone of my age. im now so desperate to sort my smile out but have no idea what my options are as my dentist is not very good. i thought about implants but the amount i would need would be extrememly costly and i have read that implants can only be fitted within 3 months of tooth extraction due to bone and gum shrinkiage is this true?? are there any other options that you think may be open to me??? i live in essex quite near chelmsford what would the cost be for me to have a consultation with yourself?? thanks so much for any help and advice you can give me

A. Hi, I’m sorry to hear of your predictament. Your right implants can be expensive however the improvement in your quality of life can be worth the investment. You might also consider a combination of bridges implants and dentures to reuce the cost. The options are almost too numerous to consider without a consultation. I can see you for a free 10 minute smile consultation, however it sounds like you’ll need a full consultation, x-rays and report which will cost £90. If you call the practice and mention where you found me I can offer you a free CT scan of your teeth and jaws, if required, so I can give you the full range of options to improve your smile and self confidence, Regards  Andrew 01245 268 494 [email protected]

I have been advised by my dentist that i have gum shrinkage which has affected the bone in my mouth to such an affect that three of my back teeth are now loose (one will be taken out next week) I am 54 years old, how can i now stop the shrinkage further. I was advised there was no build up of tartar, and my teeth are perfect. So what has caused this shrinkage over the years.I gave up smoking 8/9 years ago and drink in moderation. Can stress cause a problem?
