I have a natural gap between my front teeth which has been made worse by my thumb sucking habit. I think I know what I need, but am I right?

Q. I have a natural gap between my front teeth which has been made worse by my thumb sucking habit. The gap 1s 5mm at the top anad 7mm at the bottom. I’m not an expert but what I think I need is a brace to push my teeth back to counteract the effects of thumb sucking (I’m hoping that I could use invisalign). I suspect that following that, porcelain veneers would be my only option? I’m 30 years old.,
A. You are along the right tracks with your thoughts. As well as your teeth sticking out your thumb also causes your tongue to sit lower in your mouth. This has affected the way your jaws have developed causing your upper jaw to be narrow. So as well as moving your front teeth back you need to have your jaws expanded. his sounds awful but is in fact not a problem. Following ortho you may need veneers but reassess after your ortho has finished
