I am being charged £300 for having a crown at NHS

Q. My daughter was 6 when she fell and broke her front tooth. The dentist would only fill the gap and said that it couldn’t be crowned until her teeth had stopped growing around when she is 16. Last month I enquired about her having the crown and was told no problem but would cost me £300. I asked why as she received free dental care and was told it was because the repair is cosmetic. I find that really difficult to believe. She has a really dark line that shows where the filling has been and is now really conscious and yet I can’t afford the cost of a crown. Is the information I have received correct?

A. Generally cosmetic treatment isn’t covered y the NHs it might be worth shopping around for another opinion in case there is something else that could be done on the NHS
