How long do you usually have to wait for dentures to be made?

Q. Hi, i was wondering how long do you usually have to wait for dentures to be made? i got my 4 front teeth out in march and i just received them 2 weeks ago and they are terrible they look really bad not the colour of my other teeth…and they even have a gap at the side i told my dentist i wasn’t happy and now i have to wait another 2 weeks before i get seen and then i don’t know how long it will take again? Please help as i’m really depressed about the whole situation..

A.

It does depend on how busy your dentist is.  If they are NHS it is likely that they are very busy indeed.  This does not help your situation. There is a healing period of 3 to 6 months following extractions before a denture can be made to prevent a poor fit due to gum shrinkage.  Sometimes an immediate denture can be made but this is usually a loose fit and will need at least a reline or a completely new denture after healing. You should contact your dentist and ask the questions that you have asked me.  Hopefully your new denture will only take a month
