Do I go for the crown or should I leave it and seek an implant in the future?

Q. I would like to know if you really recommend to have a crown done after a root canal. I have all my teeth and they all look good, I am 39 years old, and had a small decay in one of my back tooth (so said the dentist) and after having the filling done my face became distorted and I got an infection that lasted few weeks. The problem is now sorted, I changed dentist and had to do a root canal. Because the treatment took too long, I ended up losing quite a bit of my tooth during the treatment. The dentist now said that I will need a crown to strengh my tooth. I am not keen on that as I think more of my tooth will be gone after that. The tooth looks fine to me. What should I do? I am originally from Brazil where we value a lot our teeth, being toothless there means you belong to a lower class or that you don’t hve good personal care. Please what should I do? Go for the crown or just leave it and wait if my tooth breaks in the future and seek an implant or something like that? Woud veneer be any good? thanks,
A. When a molar tooth or a premolar tooth has had a root canal treatment the tooth is considerably weaker and prone to vertical fracture. This is why you should have a crown placed to prevent all the good work coming to nothing and you losing your tooth

Beverley Rowland Says :

I am having the crowns replaced on my front four teeth from bonded porcelain to zirconia crowns. One tooth already has had root canal treatment, a metal rod and I have had an apicectomy. done on it. …the dentist tells me I need another root canal for sure as I have slight discomfort in one tooth, but he has also advised me to have root canal treatment on the other two teeth also…just in case!! Is this normal?
