Can you make a rough crown feel smooth?

Friday, April 2nd, 2010
Q.
When my crown was put in, the dentist had to grind the top of it to fit against the opposing tooth. While doing that he also ground the side of the crown that faces my tongue – not for fit, I think he just slipped. I told him it felt rough (no anesthesia), so he grinded the whole side of the crown to smooth the scratches. It is still rough, not smooth and polished like normal teeth or the other side of the crown, which he did not grind. I find myself rubbing my tongue on it (which has actually made my tongue sore – obsessive, I know!). I am wondering if it is common practice to grind the side of the tooth and if it is possible to put some sort of enamel on it to give it a smooth surface?,

Is it true that it takes up to a year for the root canal treatment pain to settle?

Friday, April 2nd, 2010
Q.
I had root canal treatment last December but am still experiencing pain which runs along upper gum towards my ear and down to lower gum. The most recent episode has lasted for two days but previous to that it usually disappeared after a few hours. My dentist says that this is normal and that it can take up to a year to settle. Is this the case? Because if so I dont know if I can put up with it.,

Is there anywhere in the west midlands that can give me vampire fangs?

Thursday, March 25th, 2010
Q.
Hi Dr, I have seen plenty of questions about having Vampire style fangs done but they dont quite give me all the information I need. I want to get semi permanent fangs… Be that moulded or filed and fitted.. My teeth are in perfect condition and are near truly straight and aligned, I don’t mind having my lower teeth filed to accomodate the fangs if needed. I would like to know If you know of anywhere within the West Midlands who would take a look at my teeth and if possible carry out the procedure for me? I would also like to know what other options are available to me that would give the desired effect.. I dont want short fangs, I want to get full on sharp fangs, I would like them to cover my existing canines. I really don’t want to pay a fortune on a consultation that ends up with me being declined for the procedure so a cheap consulation is a must. Thanks for your time.,

My girlfriends adult teeth are still not through at the age of 22, please help!

Thursday, March 25th, 2010
Q.
Hi Rob, This is about my girlfriend. She is 22 1/2 and has no adult teeth although she understands they are in there waiting to erupt. Her baby teeth are gradually eroding and cause her regular pain. She is terrified of all things medical, doctors and dentists especially needles, and has steadfastly refused to allow me to take her for treatment. However, during the last couple of days she has suffered from what we think is an abcess on her lower right jaw which is about 3 teeth long and as high as the tooth. The pain from this appears to be persuading her to consider doing something about it. She is a really attractive girl apart from her teeth and as a result she never smiles with her mouth showing her teeth. This fear is a long standing fear and is genuine. I seem to have now convinced her (with the aid of the pain) to at least have a consultation to establish the options. She tells me that in the past dentists have expressed interest in her condition since it is so rare. If you feel up to a challenge I will give it my best shot to support you and her. .,

Is there any surgery available to have the gaps in my front teeth closed?

Monday, March 22nd, 2010
Q.
I have perfectly healthy teeth, but was always told by dentists that my top layer would gradually close and have less gaps, they are not huge gaps but enough to be noticed and get me down. I am now nearly 22 and feel these gaps will now never close. Is there any surgery i can get to close these front 4 top teeth, or what is the best option? :),
