Is it true that it takes up to a year for the root canal treatment pain to settle?

Q. I had root canal treatment last December but am still experiencing pain which runs along upper gum towards my ear and down to lower gum. The most recent episode has lasted for two days but previous to that it usually disappeared after a few hours. My dentist says that this is normal and that it can take up to a year to settle. Is this the case? Because if so I dont know if I can put up with it.,
A. Teeth can take up to year to settle but it is not normal. WE try to decide on the the likely cause , some teeth need retreating , some need to be left a bit longer and some need to be taken out. If you need a clinical assessment please call the practice for a frre initial consultation. Rob
