How much would I expect to pay for instant veneers?

Tuesday, July 10th, 2012
Q.

hi, i am considering getting veneers as i have lost all my confidence because of my teeth. i have been told some are cheaper than others, could you please give me some advice on this as i do not earn a huge amount of money every month. i have also heard of instant veneers which i have been told are more straight forward to have done, is this true? i live in Leicestershire so where would be the nearest place for me to get them done? also, do any places let you pay monthly or would i have to get a loan from my bank? any information would be much appreciated. thank you

I am not happy with my crowns but my dentist will not replace them, what can I do?

Monday, May 28th, 2012
Q.

I recently had all old crowns in front replaced. Problem: I have a long thin face. The dentist who applied my old crowns followed the contour of my face when affixing the crowns. This filled my face out and dimished my long thin face.
With the new crowns, the “new” dentist (older dentist now retired) decided I needed thinner crowns and shorter ones. As a result, I look “sick!” She will not change them and instead told me “we could obviously not work together.” I sought another dentist who does not want to replace these crowns with thicker and longer crowns as well. He wants to do crown lengthening to the top 4 front and then “maybe” make the crowns a little bit thicker…but not much. Should I seek yet another opinion?

Is it the usual practise to leave teeth without veneers after caps have been removed?

Monday, May 28th, 2012
Q.

Hi

I am interested in getting porcelain veneers fitted, but am hesitant as I have been told I have to get my plastic caps drilled off first and wait two weeks to have my veneers fitted. My teeth underneath had worn away due to acidity and so do not have much enamel left after drilling and being capped.

My caps are on my four front top teeth so do not want to be without front teeth for this long.

I would like to know if it is possible to take off my plastic caps and have veneers fitted in one session. And also the price per tooth and location.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Can I get teeth whitening and bonding after my Invisalign treatment ends?

Monday, May 14th, 2012
Q.

hi, I am almost finished with my invisalign treatment and am very happy with the straightening results. However it has created more problems for me. As the teeth have moved, stains on the edges of teeth that were tucked behind others have appeared. I am 38 so they have been there a long time. I have been trying whitening toothpastes etc but not noticing any difference. Also on the front tooth, the edge has been revealed to be slightly ‘chipped’, it’s very rough, can this too be fixed? I don’t want to still be embarrassed with my new smile. My dentist says he will replace fillings that I had on my front tooth when I broke it as it is not the right shape for my new teeth. Will he be able to do that before I start wearing retainers, I don’t want to wait possibly 2 or 3 years before I have the fillings replaced but obviously this will change the shape of the retainer. please help! thank you

If I only need some mild orthodontic work can I expect cheaper prices?

Wednesday, April 11th, 2012
Q.

I have a small gap between my two front teeth.
I have no other problems, my issue is merely cosmetic.
As the problem is only slight; would this decrease the price of the brace? I have no knowledge of the dentistry profession, thought I imagine smaller imperfections would be quicker to fix.
Is it worth looking abroad for cheaper dentistry? It’s something I would like to get done, but due to the nature of the imperfection, it doesn’t warrant spending a great deal.
Any information insofar as figures are concerned would be fantastic.
N.B: I only want to correct my teeth alignment, I have no desire for anything which is invasive to the tooth itself.

Should I have dental veneers to correct my gummy smile?

Wednesday, April 11th, 2012
Q.

I’m 15 turning in December and I have a horrorifically gummy smile. My gums are much larger than my teeth they are tiny. I feel really embarrassed and self concious of my teeth all the time. I currently have braces on to straighten my teeth but these will not correct my gum issue. I have looked online and have spoken to my mum about porcelain veneers we both think that this is the best option, is there anything I can do now? Composite veneers? Or could I have porcelain veneers fitted now? thank you for your time doctor

Is my local dentist’s cheap veneer treatment too good to be true?

Monday, January 23rd, 2012
Q.

Dear Dr Patel

I recently saw a deal on the net for Parkdent Clinic in Kensington, 4 veneers for £939. I thought the deal sounded too good to be true but to be honest I know very little about cosmetic dentistry. I have an appointment with this clinic on Friday but have been giving my teeth a lot of thought these past few days and I realise that I need to do some research before I go jumping into getting my teeth done because it’s a a cheap deal. The quality of the veneers is more important to me although I don’t have a lot to spend.

My 2 front teeth have a gap and the teeth either side are under-developed. I would like to replace these with veneers. £939 sounds like a great deal but is this not too good to be true? Are porcelain veneers the best option for me?

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

I cannot afford dental implant treatment, are there any other options for tooth replacement?

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011
Q.

Hi Dr

I am considering having dental implants after having lost a nuber of teeth in the last 5 years, so currently 4 with the possibility of another on the way out too. I have looked online and while visiting places like Budapest seems good the comments I have had from my dentist hasnt been positive. To the point when I am considering going to the DentalCare Implant for a consultation. Obviously price is an issue as my own dentist mentioned ther approx price in the region of £2000 per implant which I cannot afford as this would take the cost to £10,000 but if I could pay a third of that I would be happy. Are there any options out there for me?

Will using a home whitening kit when wearing veneers loosen them?

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011
Q.

Dear Mr Patel, I have six porcelein veneers fitted four on top centre and two lower centre. When whitening with home kit could this potentially loosen my porcelein veneers. The reason I ask it may be purely co-incidental but recently I have had two of them fall out within a month of each other they were fitted in 2000. I am considering having crowns fitted the next time one of my veneers breaks or falls out would it be a more benefical way in the long term I was advised if I keep getting my veneers replaced my original tooth with shorten and I may eventually end up with not having enough tooth for the veneer to stick onto. I would very much appreciate your thoughts on both my concerns. Kindest regards,

I have a pain in my tooth after having old metal filling replaced with a new white one.

Monday, September 19th, 2011
Q.

Hi I am running into a dental nightmare with a tooth and feeling i need some answers from someone i would trust that i am doing the right thing!
Not enough space on this box!
3 months pain and over 10 visit to dentist!
Long story short. Had old filling replaced with a white one, next day pain round the gum on eating not on bitting. went back Said food impation as the filling was made less proud for better care of the tooth and now the gum aggrivated. lots of mouth care flossing etc Progressed to filling been re shaped to previous style to stop some of the impaction, still no help to shooting pain when food hit the gum. Pain slowly got worse to traveling along my jaw and waking me up at night. Xray showed nothing. Given anitbiotics. then filling taken out and packed. Pain still in the jaw so he went for the root as could see no other possible cause! only to find 2 roots, left for a week and just had another look for Root number 3 which he cant find but now informs me i have a crack and now need a crown! But cant do a crown until he knows if i need to see a specialist for root number 3 and in the mean time i may crack my tooth and loose the whole thing!!! Is it important to find the last root or for some people is there never one???? Not sure if to pay to see specialist before my tooth splits or sit and wait for a few months as has been suggested!
My gut feeling is i had gum infection as it never has caused any pain in impaction or bitting hard and maybe antibiotics may have stopped it getting into the roots. Any addvice much appreciated!
