My Teeth Are Misaligned And Caused Me Pain In My Back And Neck. Why Is This?

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2014
Q.

Doc, I have a big problem my front teeth
2 teeth. They have been missing for many years and just a year ago I started to use braces to fix my problem but it really causes me problems with pain on the right side face, which is unaligned to the left. Perhaps this is because my right teeth have shifted to the left and that there is not enough room. I feel my back and neck is aching and my body seems not aligned as well as it was. Has this got anything to do with the misalignment of my teeth? I lose my balance sometimes when I walk because my right knee aches. Please help me so that I would know what to do. Thank you.

I Regret Not Getting Braces When I Was Younger. I’m 19 Now And I Never Smile. What Do You Feel Is The Best Thing To Do?

Thursday, July 17th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes. I have been self-conscious about my teeth my whole life. I refused to have braces when I was younger because I didn’t want the embarrassment of people noticing them and then noticing my teeth. Now I’m 19 years old and realise it was the biggest mistake I ever made. I never smile because of how my teeth look and it makes me really unhappy on a daily basis. What do you feel the best thing I could do is? Thanks.

Wednesday, July 16th, 2014
Q.

Hello Mark. I hope you can help me out. I am looking for an fast treatment to straighten my teeth.

What is the best way to straighten overcrowded lower front teeth? What is the difference in the methods available and the cost associated with each method?

I’m looking at a fast approach with results under 3 months. I am UK born but live overseas and I’ll be returning next week for 3 weeks. Is there a way to start an intense course of treatment then complete when I return. Thank you for your time.

My Son’s Dentist Told Him He Would Need To Have Teeth Extracted To Have Braces. Is This Normal?

Wednesday, July 16th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. My son is 14 years old. He had some protrusion in his front upper teeth. Last year I consulted our dentist for correcting the fault and they suggested that in order to do this they would need to remove one front upper tooth on either side and create a gap for the protruding teeth to be corrected. But I worry this could affect his confidence and possibly his eyes. Is this possible? Could you please suggest to me the right method of correcting the teeth which protrude, keeping my son’s age in mind? Thanking you.

I Have Teeth Which Are Overlapping And I’m Wondering Which Discreet Braces Would Be Suitable?

Monday, July 14th, 2014
Q.

Hi Andrew. Just wondering which treatment would be best. My top two front teeth overlap and the teeth next to them the teeth are larger than my others with one straighter and the other a bit slanted. This also makes the third tooth and my fangs on each side stand out more and makes them look a lot larger and the second tooth on both sides go back a bit. These are the only problems with my teeth which I want straightened. The rest of my mouth is fine, it’s just my teeth are always on show. So I would like to know the quickest and best procedure and also maybe the cheapest. Which adult brace procedure do you recommend by this information? Thank you.

I Tongue Thrust At Night And It’s Made The Lower Portion Of My Face Look Out Of Proportion. Would I Need Jaw Surgery To Correct This?

Friday, June 27th, 2014
Q.

Hey there. For many years my teeth have appeared as perfect although I do have a slight open bite. However, this is not my main concern as I tongue thrust every night and this has pushed both my top and bottom teeth forward which has projected my mouth beyond the straight line between the tip of my nose and chin. The combination of this and my facial features makes the lower third of my face look out of proportion to the rest of my face. It seems my jaw protrudes the straight line between my forehead and mouth. I am not sure what you think of think about this you would probably need to see a picture if I am right? Could this be solved by simply closing the open bite with braces or is jaw surgery to reduce the size of the lower jaw needed? Would a lip reduction benefit me?

Thanks so much for your reply in advance.

Is There Any Way I Can Close The Gaps In My Teeth Naturally?

Friday, June 27th, 2014
Q.

Dear Dr Moore. I have a small gap between my front teeth. I consulted a dentist recently but they told me that if I wear braces then one of my front teeth will come under the other. But this gap is really annoying. Is there any way to close the gaps naturally without having to fill gaps and all? I feel very disappointed with these gaps. I don’t like to use artificial methods to fill gaps. Do you know how much treatment would cost? Thank you for your time.

My Dentist Made Slits In My Retainer So It Was Easier To Get On. Is This Right, Will It Still Work?

Thursday, June 26th, 2014
Q.

Hi,

I have just had retainers fitted by a local orthodontist. A few of my teeth have moved over the past few years and the dentist suggested having a mould created and then adjusted the mould so that the mould/teeth were then forced to be perfectly aligned and hopefully this would push the few non-aligned teeth into a straight position. However, when the dentist fitted the retainer, he created slits in the top and bottom so that they were easier to get on. I am slightly concerned, that a) if there is a gap in the retainer, how is it going to move my teeth? and b) I have just paid £400 for technically, a broken retainer.

Please can you advise whether this is normal procedure, (to cut retainers so that they are easier to fit on) and if so, will it actually move my teeth?

My Partner’s Tooth Has A Slight Turn In It. Do You Know What Procedure We Need To Consider In Order To Fix This?

Wednesday, June 25th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. My partner is wanting new teeth as he isn’t very confident with his own teeth. We are wanting to know some options he could take to improve his teeth and a price it would cost for the procedures? He has all of his teeth except one from the back which he had taken out through pain and his front tooth has a slight turn in it. Do you know anywhere we could get this type of treatment also? Thank you.

As A Soldier I Lost Most Of My Tooth In An Explosion. I Have A Business Now And I’d Like To Align My Teeth To Improve My Chances Of Success. What Are My Options?

Monday, June 23rd, 2014
Q.

Hello Sir. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I am a former soldier and whilst on operations in Afghanistan I lost a front tooth in a IED explosion whilst in a vehicle. The damage was minor and limited to a tooth and a broken leg. Now I’ve left I’ve started my own unmanned air vehicle business and would like to get my front teeth aligned and whitened to improve my first impressions when meeting potential clients.
I fully understand you wouldn’t be able to give me much of a solution without a consultation but roughly what are my options? I’m not sure what the MOD dentist put on it to get the shape back but it was some form of putty that’s rock solid. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards.
