I Regret Not Getting Braces When I Was Younger. I’m 19 Now And I Never Smile. What Do You Feel Is The Best Thing To Do?

Q.
Hi Dr Hughes. I have been self-conscious about my teeth my whole life. I refused to have braces when I was younger because I didn’t want the embarrassment of people noticing them and then noticing my teeth. Now I’m 19 years old and realise it was the biggest mistake I ever made. I never smile because of how my teeth look and it makes me really unhappy on a daily basis. What do you feel the best thing I could do is? Thanks.
A.
Hello and thank you for getting in touch. Please see an experienced orthodontist or cosmetic dentist in your area for an examination and consultation as soon as you can. It’s difficult for me to suggest what would be suitable without seeing you in person. Try to do a little research on the options available to you. Most dental websites have a rough guide price and payment options to make costs more manageable. This website has a lot of great information on the various treatments. I hope this helps. Regards, Mark.
