Is maryland bridge good replacement for missing teeth?

Thursday, February 18th, 2010
Q.
My son is missing two teeth. He is too young to have implants (17 y.o. and still growing). I understand that a Maryland Bridge would be a good option and that one using Zirconium is best as it is white rather than the dark metal used in conventional Marylands. What is your opinion and do you offer this type of bridge? thank you!!,

Can you advise me on teeth loss due to periodontal disease?

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010
Q.
I suffer from periodontal disease and have already last 2 teeth. I have bone loss as a result of the disease. My periodontist tells me that I could not have implants as I have lost too much bone and I worry that I have had too much bone loss for dentures to be a possible option. My periodontist tells me that they do not work very well for people with periodontal disease. Unfortunately this was not explained to me 20 years ago when I started treatment or I could have made the decision to have the effected teeth extracted then. My front teeth do not seem to be too badly effected, it is mainly my molars one of which is quite mobile. Can you offer me any advice, I am 52 and I feel that my face is aging prematurely because of this problem and I worry about being without teeth at what, these days, is a relatively young age.,

Can canine be repositioned to fix tooth gap?

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010
Q.
Hi, I am 24 and serve in HM Forces. I had a brick throw at me whilst serving abroad and have two broken teeth, my left Central Incisor was chipped and Right Lateral Incisor badly broken with a “stump” remaining. To make a bad situation worse my right Canine was also pushed up. Ive had Cosmetic Bonding with some joy however they do come off! Do you think the pushed up Canine and be repositioned to effectively stop the gap in my teeth and therefore make a more stable platform for the stumpy Lateral Incisor beside it to have cosmetic bonding again. This issue is really getting me down! Kind Regards,

Can boyfriend get cosmetic treatment through NHS?

Thursday, January 7th, 2010
Q.
Hello Dr Patel, i am writing this on behalf of my boyfriend. My boyfriend was a bar manager two years ago and he was attacked two years ago by a drunk customer who consequently broke two ribs and knocked out my boyfriends two front teeth. At the time his teeth couldnt be saved and the company he worked for promised they would pay, however they went bust and this never came to fruition. He has spent two years never smiling and is painfully self concious of his missing teeth and has knocked his self confidence. We have tried to see if we could get it done privately and were quoted £3000 pounds for the work that need to be done which is way beyond us. Is there any chance the NHS will do this for free at all? or is it considered as cosmetic surgery. I look forward to your response Thankyou Rebecca,

Will I need to pay for broken teeth removale before getting braces?

Thursday, January 7th, 2010
Q.
my teeth are broken back teeth, some back teeth have completely come out, this happened during my three pregnancies, i want to consider a brace as my fronth teeh is slightly more forward than the next one and also i have a upper tooth slightly behind the rest of my teeth, if that makes sense, wcould i just go for the brace or will i need to seek attention for the broken teeth? which i had done so but its very costly, id rather just pay for the brace, as im very self conscious.,

I have had a canine missing what can I do If my incisors moves into the gap?

Monday, December 21st, 2009
Q.
Hi, I have had a canine missing for at least about 7-8 years, would my lateral incisors move into the gap? As I have noticed that my 1st premolar has begun to do so. What can I do if it (incisor) moves into the gap and how much could it cost in total to resolve this?
