I am very uncomfortable to wear my false teeth is there any alternative other than implants

Monday, July 6th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I had some work done by my dentist to corect the alingment of my teeth, which included the removal of the two teeth next to my big teeth. I was under the impression that he was going to replace these teeth via a bridge implant, but he decided that my bottom and top teeth were too close together and gave me a set of false teeth instead, that are very uncomfortable to wear, and i can’t speak properly in. I was looking at implants but was put off by the high cost. Is their any alternative to getting these teeth replaced? Thanks

The front tooth next to the last one is now black my nhs dentist cant give me a crown is it right

Monday, July 6th, 2009
Q.
I’m 37 years old and suffer with gingivitis which has weakened my gums. 6 months ago I had a fall and knocked my front tooth out.. I now have a denture in place. The front tooth next to the lost one is now black from the damage and is very obvious as my natural teeth were crooked and the denture is now straight. I asked my nhs dentist if I could have the black one crowned to even up the look of my teeth and he told me he wouldn’t do it on the nhs as it would only be for cosmetic reasons. I am on a low income and so cannot afford a private crown.. my dentist told me that the only option would be to have the tooth removed and a denture in place. Can this be right? I really want to keep my tooth but I’m so self conscious of my smile now.

Ive only 2 teeth in the lower middle i wonder if denture implants would be the right option

Monday, July 6th, 2009
Q.
I have aspergers and chew my fingers quite a lot, over the years this ,plus the lack of care and a since struck off orthodontist was left me with 4 teeth ,none on the top for which i have a plate,of these 4, 2 are snapped leaving 2 in the lower middle, that dont have long to go. this is affecting my health as i now rarely eat,but am petrified of dentists,,the last treatment i had,had to be performed done under general anaesthetic, due to my fear and my condition. I feel things cannot continue much longer ,but am unable to see a solution. I find the upper plate manageable but fear that a lower would be too uncomfortable. I wondered if implants would be the answer, not individual implants but enough to support a more permanent denture

My teeth are weak is there any thing i can do to get good teeth with out having dentures?

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009
Q.
I was wondering if there was anything more permanent that veneers and something that covers the whole of the tooth. Basically my mouth is a mess, my teeth have always been weak my first filling was at the age of 5 on my milk teeth and every other time I went to the dentist I would always end up with a filling, I didn’t eat sweets or drink carbonated drinks until I was 15 due to allergies. Since the age of 17 I have only seen the dentist 3 times I am now 27 the last time was for extensive work but that was 2 years ago, and my teeth are weak and I know I’m going to need more fillings. Is their any thing I can do to get good teeth with out ripping the whole lot out and getting dentures? I am so self-conscious of it that I hate smiling and hate having my picture taken. Please help!!

Im 43 and Ive top dentures with 6 teeth on it and i dont like it was are my alternatives?

Sunday, June 28th, 2009
Q.
Hello Dr. Moore I am a 43 year old Registered Theatre Nurse from Kings Lynn. I have a top denture with 6 teeth on it, the front four included. The other two are at the side on then right. I have had to have this as my bridge snapped and I had an abcess over the root. The two teeth at the front that were holding the bridge were removed in December. I now have only 6 of my original top teeth left, none of which are as I would want them. The denture hurts my mouth and I hate it. I cannot eat properly, smile as I used to or talk with people the way I want to. I am very self conscious that there is a gap between my gums and the denture which you can see when I smile. The denture is slanted and not on the right curve, if that makes sense. The shape of my face is different now. I really hate it and am desperate for someone to be able to help me get back to the smile I once had. What would you recommend and how quickly could it all be done? Thank you for taking the time to read this email. Yours sincerely

My dad s dentures the bottom teeth are all brown in colour can dentures have cavities?

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009
Q.
My dad has had his dentures for 5 years now and he just lost a bottom tooth with eating his supper. When I looked at his dentures the bottom teeth are all brown like they are decaying. Can dentures have cavities? They sure don’t look that great but he does soak and brush them every night. Is this normal to loose a tooth from the dentures?

My dentist filed down one of the healthy teeth for partial fitting is it correct procedure

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009
Q.
I recently had a mold done for a partial and when it came back it did not fit. My dentist proceeded to file one of my teeth down with a procedure called a “repiscus” or something. It happened so quick…no explanation or anything I just have a crooked tooth in the back. Now the once health tooth is painful to chew on and sensitive. I have a follow-up appointment but wanted to know if you know of this process of filing down adjoining helathy teeth for partial fitting.
