I am unhappy with my past root canal treatment should I pay my dentist or not

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009
Q.
A couple of years ago I went to a cosmetic dentist with whom I had 3 crowns done and root canal treatment on 2 teeth. The crowns were dreadful and stupidly I coughed up. When I had an appmnt. for one of the root canal treatments I was asked if Iminded another dentist doing it as the original dentist had gone to Germany on a course. The covering dentist had been shipped in from Manchester not only to cover for treatment but also to cover up the fact that his coun terpart was practicing whilst struck off. He tried far too long to find the root and it scared me of dentists to this day. I registered with NHS for routine checks after this. Just recently I approached another cosmetic dentist to re-do my crowns. After X Rays she said the root was damaged on tooth Mcr dentist did, but that she could extract it and bridge it to two crowns either side. She also said the other root canal was infected and needed treatment. This was going to be used in the bridge. I went for first appmnt and had panoramic x-ray and diagnostic wax-up. A couple of days later I went to my NHS dentist for routine check, explained to him what I was having done and he said that the teeth to be used in bridge weren’t very good and that I could be wasting my money as root canal could become infected again. As the cosmetic dentist had taken a large deposit off me I stopped the cheque and said I wasn’t going ahead but that I would pay for the appnmt I’d had. It was to be £350. I am peeved at having to pay this, and haven’t done yet. Shall I or shall I not. Sorry for the rambling but I’ve had it with dentists. I could even add to this. Please advise.

can you tell me a round about of how much dental implants run?

Monday, April 20th, 2009
Q.
Hi.I’ve been researching dental procedures and costs. I currently have dental insurance and in search of a secondary insurance to cover other costs. I am 28 yrs old and am having lots of problems with my teeth and have already had several pulled. Majority of those pulled haave been previously filled or capped. My teeth are in very bad shape and i know that the repair will be costly. Can you tell me a round about of how much dental implants run? I dont want false teeth at such a young age!!

i have had many extractions over the year is it possible to implant a new set of teeth?

Monday, April 20th, 2009
Q.
Dr Moore, I am hoping you can please help me. I am a 41 year old male and unfortunately i have problem with my teeth. Over the years I have had many extractions and now only have 7 top teeth at the front and 7 at the bottom at the front. I went to my dentist on Friday as i am feeling some sensitive pain when drinking or eating hot or cold food and drink. My dentist has given me anti-biotics and wants to send me for a consultation with a specialist in Aberdeen that can provide dental implants. I guess my question is what could you do for me ? is it possible to screw in a new complete set of teeth as opposed to have each tooth implanted ? Would it please be possible for you to advise me of what you could do for me and how long it will take and how much it will cost. I am really worried that i will be left with no teeth while the process is being done. I did try and wear dentures that my dentist gave me but they made me constantly gag as i couldnt get used to the feeling of having a plate in the roof of my mouth. i would really be grateful for any advise you can give me. I am extremely nervous of the dentist and really dont like the pain, hence after seeing your website I believe you are probably the most experienced to help me. Thanks and Regards

what should i do to have mini implant put in to hold the dentures

Monday, April 20th, 2009
Q.
I really need advice I have dentures on the top & 6 teeth on the bottom at the front all my bottom teeth need to go but my fear of dentists is unreal. I got all my top teeth out about 5 years ago but the dentist would not take the bottom ones out because they where not bad enough I am having pain now from my bottom teeth but need help in knowing what to do I want to have mini implants put in to hold the dentures is it best to have my bottom teeth out now and let the gums heal or have the teeth taken out at the same time the mini implants are put in I think not knowing the order in which things are done is making things alot worse for me. I have recently split from my partner of 22 years because I was embarrassed about going out meeting people also pushed her away because of my teeth hope you can help me with this thank you very much
