My teeth are extremely spaced out, what can I do to fix them?

Thursday, July 15th, 2010
Q.
Dear Dr Patel I hope this email finds you well. I have very spaced out teeth that have destroyed my self esteem since child hood. I don’t even visit the dentist as I have been treated as though I am some kind of a freak in the past. This is an obvious genetic problem as my dad, brother and half sister have the same issue. I am writing to you today because I am getting married in September and I can not bear my wedding photos having my horrible smile in them. If you can help me, you would make me the happiest bride ever and you would totally transform my life. Please Dr Patel, help me. I look forward to hearing from you even if to say you can’t help. Thank you very for your time. Blessing,

Hi there, i really need to straighten my teeth, however i dread to have conventional braces as I am at an age which i think it will look embarassing! I am thinking invisalign, i did visit one dentist and he said it would not be possible with my teeth without a good reason. Waht do i do, are there any other discreet options. Help please. Thanks,

Can a smile makeover restore my partner’s confidence?

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010
Q.
hi, my partner of 15 years suffers with very bad teeth. Basically the NHS Dentist says there is nothing they can do for him, as he has all treatments, bridge work, crowns blah blah…. I know his confidence suffers as he always talks with his mouth closed and never smiles!! It has effected him very badly as he is now on anti depressants. Please can you e-mail me some info and possible prices for a full smile makeover. He was thinking going to Hungary or Poland, as money is tight. I would prefer him to have work done in the UK. He so deserves to have a beautiful smile!!,

Q.
Hi, I have never had any problems with my teeth until now, my teeth are starting to wear down and become sensitive, I’m guessing due to the enamal wearing away. Is there any dental treatment to repair, improve, or prevent any more damage or possibly cover-up the damage that I have done?,

How can I get my ‘goofy’ teeth fixed?

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010
Q.
Hello Dr Caplan, I’m coing up to my 42nd birthday and I hate my teeth so very much, I can’t express how unhappy I am about them and always have been. People say I look like the older version of Ester Ranson. I hate smiling, and even when I got married I refused to have any photo’s taken. They are what people would call goofy, it isn’t just the two front teeth, its a few. They are not over lappling a great deal or gapped, But I hate them and at times in the passed I have contemplated hitting them with a hammer, i hate them that much. Please can you or any of your fellow dentists help me, and what sort of cost am I looking at? Many many Thanks.,

Would the removal of my two upper canines improve my overbite?

Friday, July 2nd, 2010
Q.
I’m interested in having my upper two canine teeth removed, and replaced with a bridge or dentures. I’m 23 years old and I’ve had a severe overbite for years. The overbite is manageable by holding my jaw a bit foreword (a now natural habit). I’m not interested in correcting the overbite. However, I have one problem I’m set on fixing: Those top 2 canine. My canines have caused my front-upper gumline to push outward unnaturally, giving me the appearance of a monkey or the “Homer Simpson” look. The maxilla juts out and gives m y face very boxy appearance around the mouth. I’m suggesting that if my 2 upper canines were removed, and the bone of the pallete grinded/cut down under the gumline area, an oral surgeon could correct this “boxy” appearance of my mouth and lips.,
