Should I have to cover cost of cracked crown that looks bad?

Monday, February 22nd, 2010
Q.
Hi, I just began seeing this dentist who was going to put a porcelain crown on one of my molars. She told me to bite down to get it in place and the porcelain cracked. She told me that it is because my bite is unusually strong. I felt like I was being careful. She said the lab would cover the cost since it happened at her office but that they would only cover it once. The next crown was porcelain fused around one side of a metal crown for cosmetic purposes. She told me to bite down and I was being careful but then she said I even chipped the porcelain on that crown. She said it didnt really matter since it was metal underneath. When she tried to remove it, it took her about 20-30 minutes to remove it. She was banging and jerking all over it. She finally got it off and then cemented it in place. The fit is good but the pocelain is totally chewed up and looks bad. I was wondering if this is a common issue with crowns/dentists or if the dentist should cover the cost of a new crown since the lab won’t. I paid $1100 for the crown and it just doesnt seem ethical to leave such a chewed up crown in place.,

Can out of place tooth be fixed with veneers?

Monday, February 22nd, 2010
Q.
Hi, I have one tooth that I feel ruins my smile. The tooth to the right of my front 2 teeth is slighlty set back and shorther than my other teeth. If I smile on a photograph it can sometime appear that the tooth is missing altogether as it does not run flat with the others. Can this be fixed with 1 single veneer or would all of my front teeth need reconstruction. I am a very nervous patient who does not have lots of money to spare so I would also be interested to know how long/painful the procedure might be and what sort of price I would be looking at. Many thanks.,

Can injured front teeth be straightened and whitened?

Monday, February 22nd, 2010
Q.
Hello, i am a 16 year old who had a dental injury while playing football 2 years ago. This involved my front left tooth falling straight out and my front right being extreamely loose. I had an operation to put the tooth back in and root canal treatment also. I have recently found out my front right now needs root treatment as its very sensitive to hot and cold. However, cut to the point, i was wondering if my front teeth can be straightened in any way, my dentist has told me braces could speed up the rate of resortion. He has also told me that by the time i am 40 it will need taking out, this was shocking news to me. What would be the best solution to straightening and is my dentist just being pessimistic?. Thanks. P.S Since my front teeth may soon discolour due to the treatment, what would be the best method of whitening?.,

Can a paint be used to improve colour of silver fillings?

Monday, February 22nd, 2010
Q.
I have a lot of silver fillings and have been advised that replacing these with white fillings would not be the way forward as these are not as strong. The reason I would prefer white is purely for the cosmetic appearance. My question is – Is there a paint that is suitable that will cover the silver fillings to give the white finish and if so who would I approach ?,

Can I get radiograph done in UK for smile makeover abroad?

Friday, February 19th, 2010
Q.
hi i’m looking at having a smile make-over abroad (Malaga or Marbella). It’s alot easier if i get a panoramic radiograph in digital format in england so i can get a consultation/quote online from spain rather than making more trips there. If i contact a local private dentist do you think they’d mind me askin for them to do it even though i’m not actually getting the work done by them? Thanks,
