Hello Dr Hughes. I hope you can help me with something that has been bugging me. My dentist removed an attractive front tooth veneer because it had fallen off once. He said he could use a far superior one so I put my trust in him. After 5 weeks of waiting with a temporary veneer he put an ugly yellow, translucent veneer one on which looks awful and is worse than veneer he removed. He also drilled a lot of healthy tooth away prior to doing this. It has a rough surface to it and completely alters my smile. It has knocked confidence. Do you have any idea why he did this? Thank you for taking the time to reply to my enquiry.

Thursday, April 17th, 2014I Have Been Told That I’m Going To Lose All Of My Teeth. How Much Does It Cost To Have Them Replaced?
Thursday, April 17th, 2014Hi Andrew. I have had dental issues for many years and at my last appointment I was told that my teeth will fall out sooner rather than later (apparently my gums are not so healthy). That was about 9 months ago and I am yet to lose any teeth. I want to replace all my teeth with new ones so that I am able to progress in the entertainment industry. What I would like to know is, how much is a procedure such as this likely to cost? Thank you. I hope to hear from you soon.
I Have A Crooked Front Tooth And I’d Like To Know What The Best Treatment Would Be In Terms Of Cost And Longevity?
Thursday, April 17th, 2014Hi Mark. I am 39 years old and I have crooked front tooth which I believe has become more prominent over the last few years. Sometimes it’s feels a little uncomfortable. I asked my own dentist about options privately though as they are the NHS were very dismissive of my concerns. I have read about a few options however which would be a better option given age, longevity of the treatment and cost?
Your advice and suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
Braces Didn’t Work For Me. How Much Does It Cost To Have Cosmetic Bonding To Fill A 3mm Gap?
Thursday, April 17th, 2014 Hello Dr Moore. I hope that you can help me out. I would like to know how much it costs to have tooth bonding, for gap closure between front two teeth for a 3mm gap? I have had a brace in the past but it didn’t work properly due to my age I think, I’m 26 years old and I just want to experience a nice smile for once. Do you think this treatment can help me?
I want to feel confident while having photos taken and not have to hide away. Is there any other treatment that could help me? Thank you for your time, I look forward to hearing back from you.
I Am Really Upset As I Paid £3000 For Four New Teeth And They Failed. Do You Think A Bridge Would Be A Good Option?
Wednesday, April 16th, 2014Hello Dr Hughes. I hope you can answer my question. Last year I paid for four front porcelain crowns and I was also advised to have root canals which came to a total of £3,600. 3 months later one tooth came out when I was eating. Then, as months went on, all of them had to be cemented back in. The dentist now is replacing them with 4 teeth on a bridge. I am really most upset as 3 years ago I paid £3,000 for 4 new teeth and they failed. Do you think that a bridge a good option? Thank you for your reply.
I Suffer From Extreme Dental Phobia And I Haven’t Seen A Dentist In 15 Years. Will I Need Surgery To Extract My Teeth?
Wednesday, April 16th, 2014 Hello Dr Moore,
I am a mother of 4 boys and I am 47 years old. I have extreme dental phobia. I haven’t been to a dentist for more than 15 years! Now my mouth is really in a pitiful condition. I am planning to visit a dentist now as I have lost my smile and being a teaching assistant I feel that it is an important tool to communicate with children.
I have a question: Most of my teeth are broken up to gum line. After 4/5 years my gum is now closed and the root I assume must be inside. I have never had any infection/ pain or abscess. Do you think I will need a surgical extraction? I wish I could get my smile back as I am willing to extract all of my teeth and get dentures.
Thank you for your precious time.
Is It Possible To Have A Bridge To Replace Two Missing Teeth? My Dentist Thinks The Gap Is Too Big.
Wednesday, April 16th, 2014Hi Mark. I have two missing teeth at the side and 3 crowns at the front. I have been told I can’t have a bridge to replace the two missing teeth. Is that right? My dentist said I have too big of a gap for a bridge to be fitted. But I know people that have had a full top row of teeth fitted onto a bridge. Could you tell me if this is true or not as I really can’t wear dentures? I have one with two teeth on it an can’t speak or eat with dentures in and this is really depressing me and I would really like your advice on it. Thank you so much.
I Was Meant To Wear My Retainer More. How Can I Get My Teeth Straight Again?
Wednesday, April 16th, 2014Hi Dr Moore. I need your help. My lower left and lower right central incisors have moved back and it looks awful. I had braces for 3 years a while ago and I was meant to wear a retainer, but it slowly stopped being worn. And my teeth have slowly moved out of place. I’m 21 and I really want it sorted. Do you know how much it would roughly cost and is there a way to fix it without having a mouth full of metal? Also I would like to know the cheapest and most effective way possible to fix it. Thank you for helping me with this.
I Get Pain And Fever Ever Since I Had Root Canal Treatment. Is There Any Reason For This?
Tuesday, April 15th, 2014Hi Mark. I have a question I hope you can help me with. I had a root canal on one of my upper molars almost three years ago and I had a metal crown fitted. Now, I keep getting a severe cold, fever or a bad neck. I also get severe pain in that particular tooth for around one week and then the pain goes away by itself. I have been to the dentist for normal check-ups, they have X-rayed it, but they can not see anything wrong. Is there any reason for the pain in that particular tooth and do you know of any solution or remedy? Please help me! Thank you.
