I Get Pain And Fever Ever Since I Had Root Canal Treatment. Is There Any Reason For This?

Q.
Hi Mark. I have a question I hope you can help me with. I had a root canal on one of my upper molars almost three years ago and I had a metal crown fitted. Now, I keep getting a severe cold, fever or a bad neck. I also get severe pain in that particular tooth for around one week and then the pain goes away by itself. I have been to the dentist for normal check-ups, they have X-rayed it, but they can not see anything wrong. Is there any reason for the pain in that particular tooth and do you know of any solution or remedy? Please help me! Thank you.

Hi. Thank you for getting in touch. My advice to you, would be to have a specialist endodontist look at the tooth previously treated by root canal (ask for a referral or seek one out yourself) and seek a second opinion from a very experienced and well respected dentist. Hopefully this can help you. If you would like to find out more about root canal treatment, this website has a helpful guide on what treatment entails. Kind regards, Mark.
