I Would Like A Fast Solution To Bring Back My Confidence. Would I Be Suitable For Veneers Or A Snap On Smile?

Monday, January 20th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore, I need some advice. I am currently considering snap or clip on veneers but I think my teeth are too crooked and my fang tooth is very large. I’ve also go some overcrowding so my front teeth are so out of place and I can’t even floss. Can anybody have veneers or do they need to be in a have decent shape. I can’t afford to have braces or Invisalign and I really need a quick fix as the look of them does affect my confidence. I look forward to your advice and I hope you can help me. Thank you.

My Wife Has Received Unsuccessful Endodontal Treatment. How Would You Treat Her Following This?

Friday, January 17th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr. Moore. My wife has received unsuccessful endodontal treatment for infection in the roots. She has been advised that an extraction will be required if the infection flares up, but a crown on the tooth after sectioning has been suggested as an option. The tooth would be sectioned and half extracted (with two roots from which the infection could not be removed). A crown would then be fitted to the remaining half. Please would you let me know if this is an established technical procedure, how successful is it and is it commonly offered privately in the UK? Thank you, I look forward to hearing from you.

I Seem To Have Chipped My Tooth And It Hurts My Tongue As It Has A Sharp Edge. Will I Need Surgery?

Thursday, January 16th, 2014
Q.

I seem to have chipped my tooth. When I run my tongue over, it has a real sharp edge and it makes my tongue sore. Will I need surgery or will it eventually smooth itself out? Just a concern that I wanted to ask you personally. Can I smooth it out by using something or just leave it? Can I buy anything from the chemist for a chipped tooth? Can there be an long-lasting damage to my tooth? Or could there be a concern it will it just smooth itself out in time? Hope it won’t need hospital treatment. Thank you for helping me out with this.

I Was Told I’d Have To Pay For An Implant Privately After The NHS Extracted My Tooth. Is This Correct?

Tuesday, January 14th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Moore, I have just got back from an NHS dentist and one of them said I need a root canal. Then that dentist left for another practice and handed me over to his colleague, I was advised by his colleague that the root canal would not work and that my best option would be to have the tooth extracted? I had no choice to agree as I had just got over an abscess in that tooth, after the extraction I asked what the next step was, as I am now left with a big gap in my smile line, and she said I will have to pay private for an implant or braces to push the teeth together. Could you offer me any advice on what I should do, I can provide photo’s of the tooth and gap.

Since My Root Canal Treatment My Tooth Has Been Sensitive And Causes Pain Spreading To My Ears. Why Is This?

Monday, January 13th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr. Moore, I have undergone root canal treatment 2 months back. Currently my root canalled tooth is highly sensitive even to normal water. For both hot and cold things it is sensitive. It’s causing a pain and spreading to my ears. I am brushing with Sensitive pro-relief for 3 weeks, twice daily, yet no relief from the pain. While having chewing gum I can feel slight pain in the root canalled tooth at a particular spot. From that particular spot only, the pain is getting triggered. Can you suggest why this could be happening? Thank you, I shall look forward to your reply.

My Porcelain Crowns Are Too Big For My Liking. Can I Have Them Shaped And Polished Without Damaging Them?

Thursday, January 9th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr. Moore. I recently got porcelain crowns on my front two teeth. I think they look a little big. Can they be shaped now that they are in place? I have always hated my two front teeth because they looked too big and I would preferably like them much smaller. I was hoping that the crowns would have made them look smaller. If they try and shape them now will it dull them and is there any chance of them cracking or breaking? Any advice you can provide will be very helpful and I look forward to your reply. Thank you.

Dear Dr Moore, Could You Tell Me How I Can Find Work Experience In The Cosmetic Dentistry Field?

Friday, December 20th, 2013
Q.

Dear Dr Moore,
I would first like to say thanks for taking the time to answer my question, but feel I should warn you that I am not seeking advice as a patient, but as a ‘wannabe-dentist.’ I am only 15 years old, but have been interested in the world of cosmetic dentistry for a while now. I was wondering what sort of other websites/magazines/books would expand my knowledge? Also, could you recommend any practices for work experience? I would be grateful for any advice you could give in starting out.
Thanks in advance.

I’ve Just Had My Teeth Polished But The Stains On My Teeth Are Still There. What Else Can I Do?

Thursday, December 19th, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr Moore. I currently have brown stains on my teeth and I have just had a polished at the dentists but they are still there. How can I get rid of them? Are there any home treatments I can use? Or do I have to see someone? How much would it cost? Or am I just stuck with them? I drink a tea a lot and fizzy juice but have started to cut down on the juice but still drink tea but with no sugar. If you could help me that would be great as It affects my confidence and I find it hard to smile and talk to people.

I’ve Been Considering Veneers For Ages Now. Would They Help Fix My Bucked Teeth?

Thursday, December 12th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I’m 19 years old and I have been considering veneers for ages now. My teeth are straight but a bit bucked, they have small gaps but have stopped growing. When I bite I can rub the bottom of my teeth with my jaw clenched as my top half has moulding round my thumb as I used to suck my thumb when I was little. I also have fangs on both the bottom and the top and I hate them. I just never smile. I just wanted to know what would the price be for 12 teeth as I would rather this than braces.

Thanks.

My Teeth Have Begun To Shift Alignment Since My Mid-Twenties. What Will Sort This Out?

Wednesday, December 11th, 2013
Q.

I have always had quite cosmetic teeth. However, since my mid-twenties, I have noticed that my two front teeth seem to be slowly shifting to the right. The middle of one of my front teeth is now aligned with the middle of my lips.

Another tooth has become crooked and is now slightly covering one of my front teeth. I was told that this tooth can be fixed with braces.

I have a genetic overbite which I am happy with. However, I am concerned about the shifting of my two front teeth. They are still perfectly straight – just moving to the right. Is this likely to get worse over time? Is there any treatment that I can have to move them back to the centre of my mouth and keep them there?

Many thanks.
