can teeth whitening damage white filling

Q. Can teeth whitening damage white fillings and is the strenghth 22% or 16% a factor( I have both from my dentist ) one of my front teeth appears to be losing a white filling after using the 22% and I had v bad toothache ( which I can live with ) after using the 22%.I am considering going ahead with 2 hour sessions in trays with 22%but I am not due to see my dentist until after Christmas and don’t want to damage my front teeth which of course I want to whiten. Thanks for any observations PS my teeth are partially whitened now.

A. Hi, tooth whitening can damage white fillings but can damage teeth which have decay in them. it is always prudent for your dentist to check that you have no decay in your teeth before starting on whitening the teeth. it may also just be that your teeth are suffering from hypersensitivity from the whitening treatment. i would recommend you do not commence with any more whitening until seeking the advice of your dentist.
