Can real patients be treated at dental schools?

Q. Do any of the Cosmetic Dentistry teaching schools use ‘live’ patients for Dentists being taught implant technology and, is so, where are they?,
A. you could try the Eastman Dental Hospital, I also run a course where we offer discounts to patients participating, depending on what you need done.Regards  Andrew

Dear Andrew,

I am a 28yr old, single mum – who has suffered from very weak teeth all my life. I’ve had alot of extensive work carried out over the yrs, by dentists that I wouldn’t recommend to anyone! I haven’t been to a surgery for a couple of years now for various reasons. My teeth are very embarassing and it has come to the point where I have to be very careful about what I eat. I really need implants, veneers etc. I feel like my teeth are rotting in my head!! It’s very depressing now. I was wondering if you could recommend an over seas surgery or if you know of a cosmetic dentistry school where I may be a live pateint to obtain the work that I need at a lower cost? I am in the bracket where I would be required to pay at a dentists anyway – but I feel that the work that I will need is beyond their capabilities. I relly dont want to be subject to ‘false’ teeth at my age.
Any help would be immensly appreciated and I thank you in advance of your response.

Kind Regards
Michelle

go to bristol or local dental hospital and ask to be treated by the 3rd and 4th year students, they are watched every minute by a teacher and their work is exceptional, it is free and they will bring your teeth back like new, I have had treatment done by students so has my granddaughter, son, daughter in law and my friend, dont waste any tme, find your local dental hospital and get things sorted

My partner has very badly decayed front top teeth from canine to canine. she has one front tooth that is reasonably ok but the others are virtually gone. Is there anywhere in London where she can go where she can allow student dental surgeons practice on her? Our dentist has said that the treatment she will need will most likely be very expensive and will involve finance

the first place to contact would be the teaching hospitals. Call Guys, Royal London and Kings College to see what they can offer
