Can I have implants?

Q. Dear Dr Moore I am a 28 year old female and have become quite depressed at the state my teeth are in at such a yougish age. I have always looked after my teeth but always seemed to have fillings, root canals, nerves remove etc everytime i visitied the dentist. I had a fixed brace when i was young and had 4 permanent molars removed since then my remaining molars have taken a beatin and I have just now had 3 roots removed from another set of molars due to the tooth dying or a crown continuosly coming out resulting in a broken tooth. as it stands i now have only 21 teeth remaining!! my concern is will my dentist recommend implants? as im starting to wonder how on earth ill chew food! all my front top and bottom teeth are intact. I am a single mum doing my nursing degree so I have a NHS excemption certificate but can I still have implants fitted?? many thanks,
A. Hello, I’m sorry to hear of your problems. Unfortunatley dental implants are not available on the NHS. It might be possible to try bridges as these are sometimes available, ask your dentist for some options.
