Can i fix braces for free on NHS?

Q. I had fixed braces when i was about 11 for seven months, but then eventually discontinued to use the retainer i was given as i got older. I am now 18, and my teeth have moved around so much from when the brace was first taken off, meaning that the retainer obviously no longer fits my mouth. Would you recommend getting fixed braces put back on? If so, would i still be able to get them free on the Nhs, baring in mind that i am still in full time education? Any other recommendations would also be much appreciated.

A. Free orthodontic treatment is extremely unlikely.  You do have other options such as invisalign rather than a fixed brace but all options will be required to be carried out privately most likely.

i have a tooth that sticks out over to other teeth and muy dentist said that i would have to have 2 teeth taken out from the top row to make room for it to straighten and also 2 from the bottom to make them match, although sh says this process is minor so the nhs will probably not let it become free so i would have to go private and pay up to £2000 – 3000. although my mum has private medical insurance for the family, would that be able to cut some of the cost and also would this process be free or cost us a fortune?

Hello, I have had a retainer (at the age of 12) and fixed braces (at 16), neither of which really worked. I am now 27 and training to be a speech therapist. I would really like to get my bottom teeth straightened. Could you give me an idea of how much this would cost? It is just 3 or 4 teeth that are pushed tightly together. Also, as I am a student, is there some kind of student discount and payment plan? Thank you for your time.

Hi I would like some more information on having Invisalign braces on finance. What is the typical payment per month? What is the APR? I suffer from over crowding on my bottom jaw and my top set of teeth are not as over crowded but could do with straightening. How much do you think it would cost approx to correct these problems? Any information you could give would be great. Thanks

Dear Sir/ Madame, I am a third year dental student at Bristol University and I am interested in a consultation for Invisalign braces. I know that youcould not give me a precise quote without a clinical examination, but I waswondering what your range of prices would be for a full upper arch, and whether you offered any sort of student discount. Many Thanks,
