i have narrow arch and my overbite is too big i know i could not afford any ideas?
Q. Hi there, I have always been very unhappy about my teeth and really wish I had got a brace when I was younger. My profile from the side id aful and I have been told I have a ‘narrow arch’ and that my over-bite is too big. Many dont see the issue with my teeth however it is something that I am really paranoid about. I know I could not afford cosmetic dentistry at this time and cannot seem to get accepted for any finance plans, Was just curious if you had any ideas? Thank you
A. Dear Alana,
Unfortunately Cosmetic dentistry is only offered privately so your only option is to perhaps save to get the treatment done in the future.
Kind regards
Dr Justin Glaister
Hello, I am a 21 year old male who has recently had orthognathic surgery (BSSO and Genioplasty). I believe that that the arches of my teeth are still somewhat narrow. Is there a brace that can widen my teeth (both upper and lower) and would this have an effect on my upper and lower jaw? If so, how long after the surgery I have had should I wait before starting such treatment? Thank you
hi if you got your arches widened during orthodontics and after treatment some of the widening fell down in one or both arches, could you be left withyour teeth not sitting properly together or one arch a lot wider then the other .thanks.
I have a problem where the width of the arch of my teeth are continually getting narrower. This happened after a blow to the head. The skull bones started to move after this and then the teeth did since the upper ones are connected to the skull bones, Now it is either the skull bones moving the teeth, or the other way around; but the point is that the teeth are getting narrower. Even though I may not have a crossbite, I have been told that a maxillary expander appliance can help in my case. My maxillary needs to be stabilized first, and then perhaps braces can be used to align the teeth. Previous orthodontic work corrected a problem, but it did so at the expense of narrowing the width of the upper teeth and making them meet the lower teeth horizontally, rather than vertically. This could be the reason why I have aproblem now. Anyways, the point is that the maxillary is getting even morenarrower now, and something needs to be done to correct this. Do you thinkthe above mentioned device can help here
Hi, I am considering having some orthodontic work carried out to straightenmy teeth (I had a brace when I was younger but this never fully resolved the problem.) I would like to understand more about what options are available to me for the result I would like, and the likely cost / timescales involved. What is the process to obtain a consultation? Many thanks,
hi doctor , i have an edge to edge dental relation . cephalometric x ray showed inc inclination of ant tepohhes . i had an orthodontic treatmenr before as i had arch deficiency he didnt extract my premolars so it came on expense of inclination of teeth . after studying orthodontics and knowing the hazardous effects of qn edge to edge relation .. what do you advice me to do ? should i extract my premolars and do orthodontic treatment all over again or it wont harm if i left it like that ?
Edge to edge bites aren’t ideal but are not harmful. Seek a second opinion and see what they say
I am 14 months into my orthodontic treatment and have had all four premolars extracted. The gaps have finally closed but my lower arch is now narrower than my upper arch, so the upper teeth do not sit on top of the lower teeth properly and they do not meet correctly. Is it possible to widen the lower arch to match the upper arch? I am worried as i dont want my orthodontist to tip my upper teeth inwards so that they meet the lower ones better? Has my orthodontist made my lower arch more narrower than it needed to be?
hi it may be possible to widen the arch , but i advise seeking a second opinion from another orthodontist to be sure
