I Got Knocked Off My Bike And Fractured My Tooth. Would Treatment For This Be Available Through The NHS?

Q.
Hello,
I got knocked from my bike by a car last week and have fractured upper left 2, sublimed upper left 1 and chipped upper right 1. My dentist initially advised me to leave everything for a week and constantly wear my Invisalign aligner. I have done this and returned to the dentist today. I have been told this morning that upper left 2 has a vertical fracture with exposure of the nerve and needs to be removed. I have a few questions about treatment options. I have spent a lot of money and time over the last 5 years having orthodontic treatment and don’t want to have a noticeably abnormal tooth. What would be the best treatment option for this and would there be any way of getting some funding on the NHS to help pay for treatment?
Thanks.

Hi. Options to replace your tooth that requires removal are as follows: – implant plus crown
– some type of bridge
– a removable bridge (a denture). Costs vary for each option and there are several options within each category. The most ‘ideal’ option is often the implant plus crown (but cost is a factor) and an average for a straight forward replacement is from £3000-£5000 from a very high quality dentist and practice.

The bridges would be less and the denture significantly less but of course it is removable. Go and see a very experienced cosmetic or restorative dentist/specialist for the best results. Highly aesthetic and complex options may not be available on the NHS and often for exceptional results you might need to have private treatment.

Kind regards, Mark.
