How Do I Look After a Bridge?

Wednesday, April 15th, 2015
Q.

I have two gaps on the left side of my mouth and one gap on the right side. I’m thinking about having a bridge. Which is the best one and what is the cost? Does it hurt to have it done and how long would it take to be done? After having it done how do I look after them? Is there anything I need to do before I have this fitted, and do you have to drill any part of my gums? Do I need to do anything at night to my mouth when I’m going to bed, and can I clean them like normal teeth with normal toothpaste?

How Quickly Can Implants or Bridges be Placed?

Friday, April 10th, 2015
Q.

I had a bone marrow transplant 4 years ago. Then a year later I had a stem cell transplant. Since having this, my teeth have become very weak. I’ve lost 2 teeth from the upper side and back of my jaw, and 2 teeth from my lower side of my jaw. Last night anther tooth cracked in half. It’s very distressing to think I may loose further teeth. I am looking for either implants or a bridge fitted What would the cost be and how quick can the treatment be done? And can the implants be fitted all at once? How dose the bridge work?

How Much Would It Cost for 5 Teeth on a Bridge?

Thursday, March 5th, 2015
Q.

How much does it cost for 5 teeth on a bridge please? For the top three at the front and two at the side? I have been to the dentist and they’re too dear so I’m just getting different quotes. Could you get back to me please? Thanks. It’s important because I’m going away in May for two weeks and I can’t smile. I need them doing. I’ve been looking everywhere on different sites and need to get them done as soon as possible. My other teeth are all fine, it’s just these ones that need work.

How Much Should I be Paying for a Bridge?

Tuesday, February 10th, 2015
Q.

Hello. I see on your website the cost of a bridge is between 300 and 900 pounds per unit. I have to re-do a bridge which is made of one missing tooth (canine), 2 crowns on one side and 1 on the other side. I have been quoted 1,000 pounds per tooth, total 4,000 pounds. It seems quite high to me, so I wanted to get your opinion. Note that the dentist has given that to me as a fixed price, we haven’t done x-rays yet, so the price is not due to my specific circumstance. What do you think? Many thanks.

The Post Which Holds My Bridge Has Broken And Cemented In Place. Can This Post Be Replaced At The Same Location?

Monday, August 4th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Patel. I have 3 teeth bridged in the front – top row. This bridge usually rest on 2 posts which were made by grinding the 1st and 3rd teeth. Last year the 1st post was found to be broken and dentist’s observation was that it does not project out of the bone. My dentist has temporarily fixed it with cement but I fear that it could become loose at any time.
Can this broken post be replaced by a new post implanted at the broken tooth/post location? If yes then please let me know the cost and also time duration for the treatment.

Thank you for your suggestion and also for your time.

Kind regards.

My Husbands New Bridge Has Fallen Out After 5 Weeks. Surely This Shouldn’t Happen?

Friday, June 27th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. My husband had a Maryland bridge fitted to replace another bridge he had fitted by an army dentist almost thirty years ago, (this one had started to become loose after 26 years) for his 2 upper front teeth, how should this be priced? By the unit the 2 teeth are attached to or per tooth? Also the new bridge has also fallen out after 5 weeks, surely this shouldn’t happen and his dentist is refusing to replace it unless he pays again. Thank you.

What Treatment Would I Need To Move My Teeth Into The Correct Position?

Monday, June 23rd, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I don’t like the fact that I have a gap between three of my teeth at the bottom. I spoke to a friend who’s a dentist and they said I would need to move a big tooth at the back plus two smaller ones to the left of the front teeth. Is it possible to get an approximate cost or an idea of what possible treatments I would need to consider? Thank you for your time and expertise. I look forward to your response.

A Piece Of My Bridge Recently Snapped Off. Is This A Common Problem And Do You Know What I Should Do?

Monday, June 2nd, 2014
Q.

Hi Andrew. I recently had a bridge fitted it is a two unit bridge. It looks like porcelain bonded to metal. However I broke a piece of the porcelain when it chipped off the metal, I had this fitted at a cost of 1200 euros. I thought it was complete porcelain and was a little shocked to find the metal and I phoned the dentist. They don’t seem very helpful and they kind of make you feel like it’s your fault. Is this a common problem you come across?

Thank you for your help and advice.

I Had A Bridge Fitted For Cosmetic Reasons But It’s Changed My Gum-line. Is There Anything I Can Do?

Friday, May 30th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark,

4 years ago I had 2 bridges fitted across my top front teeth for cosmetic reasons, partly to cover a discoloured tooth which had been bumped years before. When these were fitted, my gum line changed massively and looked terrible and I noticed my new tooth was discoloured like the previous one.

Now, 4 years later I am as self conscious of my new smile as I was of my old one and feel like I have paid £3000 for nothing. I have spoken to the dental practice but they have basically told me I have to live with it at the same time as admitting to me that they wouldn’t be happy using my smile as an advertisement for their cosmetic services.

What can I do if anything?

I Got Knocked Off My Bike And Fractured My Tooth. Would Treatment For This Be Available Through The NHS?

Wednesday, May 21st, 2014
Q.

Hello,
I got knocked from my bike by a car last week and have fractured upper left 2, sublimed upper left 1 and chipped upper right 1. My dentist initially advised me to leave everything for a week and constantly wear my Invisalign aligner. I have done this and returned to the dentist today. I have been told this morning that upper left 2 has a vertical fracture with exposure of the nerve and needs to be removed. I have a few questions about treatment options. I have spent a lot of money and time over the last 5 years having orthodontic treatment and don’t want to have a noticeably abnormal tooth. What would be the best treatment option for this and would there be any way of getting some funding on the NHS to help pay for treatment?
Thanks.
