What Can You Tell Me About Dental Implants?

Tuesday, November 1st, 2016
Q.

I am quite worried about how many teeth I have lost. I am about to loose 3 more according to my dentist. My history is that many years ago I was the victim of an abusive boyfriend. I was hit so hard that I lost 2 teeth instantly. I then wore a transparent brace and then I had a bridge. I think over the years my teeth have been very weak. I would like some info on dental implants. This has affected my confidence immensely. I would welcome your thoughts.

Could I Have Veneers on my Front Teeth?

Monday, October 17th, 2016
Q.

Will it be possible to have veneers for my front teeth? I have gum disease problem, lost bone in my jaw and have lost a few teeth so my dentist from the NHS made dentures on the top side of my jaw. It feels weird, I have speech problem and I feel so depressed and not confident. I asked him if at one stage I can have implant, but he said no because I lost bone in my jaw. I am unhappy. How much will it cost me? Thank you.

What’s the Best Way to Replace My Tooth?

Friday, August 19th, 2016
Q.

My front tooth is damaged and needs replacing. I’ve had an X-ray today to confirm and told her that I would like to think over my next procedure. I  thought that a second opinion would be best as to the best way to go. I do not want false teeth dentures fitted. I also have large gap at the front due to tooth loss (I lost this years ago). Otherwise, my teeth are in good health (fillings etc.). I am also on good general health. Can you please help?
Thank you.

Can A Person with Epilepsy Have Dental Implants?

Wednesday, September 16th, 2015
Q.

Hello. My dad is epileptic and we wanted to know if he can have the screw-in teeth? His teeth are very bad and he has gum disease and some teeth missing. He is very concerned about his teeth and his grandchildren always point it out to him. Is there anything that can be done? It is through no fault of his own as he brushes and flosses his teeth twice a day. It is really getting him down, there must be something that can be done surly?

What Advice Can You Give Me Following a Bad Dental Implants Experience?

Wednesday, September 16th, 2015
Q.

Hi there. I had a maxillary posterior 3 tooth bridge partly taken out in January this year due to the back abutment (2nd molar) decaying despite attending hygienist sessions. The bridge was partly cut off along with the pontic and the other abutment tooth (root filled). My premolar tooth remains as a single crown. After 3 opinions from dentists who offer dental implants I chose the dentist who felt I didn’t need a bone graft and could install a short fat implant (Osteocare Mazi Z Flat end 4.5mm x 8mm) where the pontic had been and an Osteocare Mazi Z flat end 12mm x 5.5mm to replace my 2nd (back tooth) molar. He seemed confident and these were both placed in June this year. No detailed aftercare was provided, no follow up appointment and 3 weeks after the crown and post on the shorter implant fell out. I was appalled as I have paid this dentist over £4000 for his “expertise”. I went back immediately and now he wants to remove the last part of the original bridge and remove the tooth that I paid the same practice £800 for 2 years ago to provide a root filling. I don’t really feel comfortable with the same dentist now and have looked into the whole way this has been handled. The dentist I believe is about 60 years old and I noticed early on his hands trembled which was not reassuring. Plus why didn’t he assess my bone height and quality before going ahead with treatment? I was given no sinus lift or bone graft and now I am worried that the back implant may not last in the long term. He wants to give me an implant bridge (3 tooth on 2 implants) but I would rather have separate teeth. This was why I wanted implants originally and saved my money accordingly. I am due to have my premolar extracted in October but all I really want is to have a refund and go to someone who is going to do a proper assessment of that part of my jaw, which I understand is the most challenging area to place implants, and keep me fully informed of what he or she is going to do and a comprehensive aftercare programme which I believe is key to successful implants. What advice can you give me?

Should I Use an Oral Irrigation System?

Thursday, August 20th, 2015
Q.

I have had several crowns in for 7 years, and am in the process of having 3 implants where I had a bridge.

I am always having to use inter-dental brushes and floss, but don’t seem to be able to get all the debris out from between my teeth. My gums are healthy but have started to shrink away from my crowns a little. Would it be safe to use one of the recommended oral irrigation systems, or would it make my gums recede more?

Can I Get Help with Dental Implant Expenses?

Tuesday, May 12th, 2015
Q.

I’m wondering if I could have a screw in tooth
at the front and how much would it cost? I’m unemployed, would I be able to get any help towards the cost? I’m also disabled, I’m getting mobility and personal independence allowence. I’ve had my front tooth pulled out and had a false one placed, but I lost it and am now considering having a screw -in one put in. Would I be able to get any help with expenses from the NHS?

Can I Get Dentures on the NHS?

Friday, May 8th, 2015
Q.

Hi. I have a full set of dentures top and bottom. As a result I do not leave my house, I have tried lots of false teeth but I have a cross bite and I have always had trouble keeping them in as they are so painful. Can I have them done on the NHS? I lost some of my teeth 20 years ago or more so I know that I would need a bone implant but I am disabled so I have not got any money to pay for them. I have only had my bottom teeth out for a few years. That is when I stopped going out as they are so painful.   Many thanks.

I have spent a fortune at my own National Health Service dentist. My gums are really receded and I have had a few teeth out. I  keep asking my own dentist to take more out because the pain is that bad. I’ve payed for dentures but I can’t wear them because my gums are too sore. I’ve been looking into implants. I wonder if you can give me information or tell me the way forward? Thanks.

How Should I Go About Getting My Teeth Replaced?

Monday, April 20th, 2015
Q.

Good morning. I have a missing tooth in the front, and due to the lifestyle I used to live I have a few more bad teeth in my mouth. I want to get the whole top set pulled, these are the ones that are bad, and have them replaced. On the bottom I wanted to get the 6 bottom teeth done in gold. One tooth was knocked out. I’d like two in the back of my mouth on the top and bottom pulled. I don’t need them replaced just pulled, the one that’s out in the front replaced, and 6 at the bottom gold.
