Q. I am 35 years old.I am embarrased to go out in public and have aged fast from loss of all my teeth.I have dentures but can not wear them, the lower will not stay down and the top ones gag me.I lost all my teeth about 3-4 years ago and since I have aged fast I look like in late 40’s or 50.I never had deep wrinkles in my face till I lost my teeth.I had my teeth pulled even when the doctor told me they did not need to be pulled.Sounds crazy right, but reason was I could not afford fillings and was on medicaid and it covered to pull them.I did it because I had to have surgery and the only way to have surgery was I had to have no bad teeth in my mouth or they would cancel. After getting them out and went to have my surgery, they did not even check my mouth, what a mistake I made and ruined my life since. The doctor told me they did not need to be pulled but done it anyways and charged medicaid for full mouth of teeth being pulled. Now my mouth has sunk in like an old lady and forehead deep lines and lines coming everywhere. Is there affordable surgery to fix all this and get mini implants??Does mini implants work and stop more bone jaw loss? How to get fuller lips and deep lines gone?I have no insurance only medicaid and it dont cover nothing. What insurance to get to help with cost for all this?I need help fast and so imbarrased to go anywhere.I hate myself for this and wish I never had my teeth pulled.I have no job but need help.I stay depressed over this. Please tell me what I should do is there any help for me ??I am in SC and everything is so high here. Please tell me if it was you what all would you do to get your looks back and teeth. Please reply ASAP.Thank you,
A. It sounds like implants will be your best option although i feel regular rather than mini implants might work best. It sounds like you live in the US so I can’t tell you whether this is covered by insurance or not

Q. can anything be done to save your teeth be saved even if you have really bad pyareah of teeth and gums,
A. All cases are judged on their own merits. At our practice we would try to salvage as many teeth as possible but we accept that on some occasions a few teeth need to be removed to help the remaining ones. rob

Q. I had to have my top right second from front tooth removed yesterday due to an injury and my front right top tooth will need a crown. I have a temporary denture for the time being and my dentist has suggested a bridge for my missing tooth. Is this the best option or should I consider an implant. I am 37 and the rest of my teeth and gums are healthy. What would you recommend. Kind regards,
A. Hi It is very difficult to comment without carrying out a full examination. An implant would be an ideal option, because the adajacent teeth would not be touched, unlike a bridge.

Q. My top front teeth are very large and look out of place with the rest of my teeth, i have discussed this with my dentist and he has advised me to have crowns. I have had fixed braces when i was younger and it didnt give me the results i wanted as i have overcrowding and my teeth soon moved back to the way they were. Before i go ahead i would like to know if there are any other options for me and the cost for any treatments i consider. Thankyou.,
A. I just need to let you know that other treatment- apart from crowns/veneers etc will not change the overall shape or size of your teeth. Orthodontic will align your teeth- and if your other teeth are set back quite a lot, then this will make the front teteh appear longer and bigger when they’re actually in proportion- it just looks this way.You do need to remember that you will need to wear a retainer at the end of your treatment to stop the eeth from moving back again- like it has done before. I recommend that you see a cosmetic dentist to discuss options and prices- as it all ranges.

Q. Hi, could you let me know the difference between full porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, porcelian fused to gold crowns on an implant ,in terms of appearance, and full cost’s of these options. thank you steve hawkins,
A. Normally porcelain fused to metal crowns are used on implants although at the front of the mouth all porcelain crowns can be used.As a general rule all porcelain crowns can be more expensive as the post attached to the implant is normally made from a more expensive material call Zirconium

Q. Hi, I have just had my front tooth crown replaced after about 5 years. My dentist informed me that the non-metal crowns which appear more natural are not avaiable on the NHS, is that correct. Also the new crown that I have had fitted is an off white colour, where as my other natural front tooth is much whiter, do the crowns come in different shades. Thanks,
A. The basic colour of a dental crown is matched to a shade guide of around 16 – 24 colours . Depending on the quality of the crown a larger range is achieved by blending colours and varying the colour within a single crown , effects can be also be added to blend with natural imperfections on adjacent teeth The NHS does not specify the appearance of a crown only that is is suitable for functioning. All ceramic, zironia based crowns private fees guide price £400 – 800 Rob

Q. My old Dentist always commented that I have very strong, healthy teeth. The problem is they are very discolored. I unfortunately do not have insurance right now, as I am a recent college graduate unable to find employment. I do attribute many of my unemployment issues to my truly horrendous teeth. After extensive web research, I believe my teeth are discolored due to a mild/moderate case of fluorosis. All of my teeth are the same yellow/brownish color expect for the top front two. The top half of these two teeth never change in appearance. The bottom half, at times, change from yellow/brownish to pure white/ Though, there is a thin discolored strip running down (vertically) one of the teeth. I believe these two teeth change in appearance due to “
dry mouth” or dehydration. It is especially noticeable after a night out at the bar, where drinking too much alcohol would cause the dehydration. If you agree with my assessment thus far, my question should be rather simple. Do you think attempting at home whitening, with a product such as crest whitestrips, would cause further damage? i.e. make things looks worse…Or do you think attempting to use this product may help lighten my overall smile a few shades at least? I don’t want to have to get veneers, as i am in no financial position to afford them. I cant find a job without a better smile, or afford a better smile without a job. Quite the Catch 22 I’d say! Thanks for you time and expertise, Sir.,
A. it truly depends on the cause of discolouration some fluoride / antibiotic staining responds to intensive whitening treatment but it is not very predictable. The option will probably be long term porcelain veneers when you are in a postion to afford them. Do not rush in and get the wrong treatment. Try your whitening it may help.

Q. Dear Sir, my front tooth have been replaced with ceramic metal crowns two years back. Now that i want to go for scaling, i have a doubt that if scaling is done to those crowns it may damage and erode the ceramic coating on metallic crowns. Please clarify my doubt. Thankyou.,
A. This shouldnt be the case if carried out correctly. Discuss your concerns with your hygienist.

Q. I have gappy and buck teeth , i was told that i may need my jaw brocken to re set my teeth, is this the only way and where would i find a good cosmetic dentist many thanks. ps my teeth making my life a misery i am 43yrs old,
A. Hi there, I am sorry to hear that you feel miserable about your teeth. It all depends on the severity of your buck teeth. Orthodontics may help in bringing the teeth in, but as you may have been told in the past, your jaw may need to be broken and re-set. The only way to find out fully is to visit a cosmetic dentist or orthodontist to see what your options are. You could even consider having full mouth restorations- this is not something to consider lightly, but nevertheless it is an option. It will not correct the malalignment of the jaw, but will create the illusion of straighter teeth. This may compromise the health of your teeth and is not something that I would normally recommend, but if jaw surgery is not suitable, then this may be an option in regaining your smile. Good luck and I would be more than happy to see you for a consultation at any of my kissdental clinics for a free consultation.

Q. Hi Dr Caplan I have been looking at the invisable brace. I haven’t been for a consultation yet as i have always been a little embarrased of my teeth. About 9 or 10 years ago i had a fixed brace, when this was removed i had perfectly straight teeth. I was given a different type of brace that rested on the roof of my mouth. Unfortunatly, i sounded like i had a lisp and being a child i stopped wearing it during the dsay and eventually my teeth moved. My bottom teeth don’t bother me but my top teeth do. The two front teeth have protruded out of the alignment. Would it be possible to repair this using the invisable brace?? Do you know roughly how much it would be and if you can via monthly direct debits. Thanks for your time Rebecca,
A. Invisalign often works in this type of case – the cost varies but is usually in the region of £3300. Hope this helps and would love to see you to sort out your problems

Q. Hello, I’m 35, my upper left 1st molar is a baby tooth that is just about still hanging in. The 2nd tooth is still in my jaw and sitting in the root centre of the adjacent tooth! I’ve been advised a scan to see exactly where it is, before they decide whether the 2nd tooth needs to be removed or an implant can be safely fitted, once my baby tooth falls out. All v.expensive!! I have many bouts of sinusitis on the left side also. Is there any chance that I could get treatment paid for on the NHS? Many thanks,
A. unfortunately you are not eligibe for nhs treatment where this is concerned .

Q. Hi Kailesh, im 16 and have a gap in my two frount teeth. I hate it and it really gets me down, i never smile. Is there any way for me to get a perfect smile… without wearing braces. Thankyou.,
A. There are many teeth alignment treatments which can be used to close the gap, however if you would prefer not to take this route, you could consider using veneers to close the gaps. Thanks. Dr Kailesh Solanki

Q. is there anything other than the heavy product used in nhs upper plate that is not as heavy and comes thinner like a wafer thin material that is sturdy?,
A. hi unfortunately other materials that are thinner and more expensive are not available as a nhs option as the heavier/thicker product will suffice to secure and maintain your health, and your personal wishes are not good enough reasons to do this treatment on the nhs

Q. Good Afternoon I was wondering if you was able to help me when I was younger I had a brace on my teeth about a month before the brace was due to come off I went travelling for just over a year and kept the brace on the whole time I was away. This was about 5 years ago I finally had the brace removed but my teeth on my lower jaw are very badly decayed I have had to have two removed, and two towards the back are now rotten. I am now worried about my front teeth. My upper jaw not perfect but in a much better condition. I am worried about going back to the dentist because of the bad way my teeth are in. But I have to get something sorted because I am getting married in October and I would like my teeth to be in a better condition. I do not have a dentist at the moment but was wondering if you could help. Hope to hear from you soon Barry,
A. October should be enough time even for implant treatment. I would be happy to help out and if you would like to have a introduction to our practice we can discuss some of the better options in your case. to stabilise what remains then improve the overall appearance. Rob 0121 643 0610

Q. Hi Dr Bohara I am 59 years of age and have had a crown on one of my front teeth since I fell when I was 11 yrs old and broke the tooth. I have had a couple of crowns since that time. Unfortunately now at my age my teeth are becoming quite yellow and my other front tooth is becoming transparent and working its way up the tooth. They do not match any longer and I wonder if it would be possible to have both teeth crowned and the cost of this. Obviously I want a good result end the best possible crowns that wil last. If you could advise. I live in S Yorks but would travel if necessary.,
A. Hi The cost of high quality crowns start from £550 per tooth. There are different types of crowns which could be indicated i.e metal ceramic, empress, procera, etc. The quality of the crown also depends on the dentist aswell as the artistic abilities of the technician. If you would like me to have a look, please contact reception on 01509 23 11 44. I hope this helps.
