I want my teeth to look white, what options are available to me?

Q. Hi, I am 36 yrs old and have never been able to smile properly since I was 5! because of very discoloured teeth. The reason behind this was due to a reaction to penicillin which the GP gave me when I was 5 yrs old. I have always dreamed of a nice smile. Spoke to my dentist a number of times when I was younger and basically he said there was nothing he could and white teeth would not match my complexion??? I just gave up hope. Since the popularity of cosmetic dentistry I have enquired into getting some form of treatment but the prices are way too high. I am a single parent of 3 with a little part time job – wot are the options available to me?,
A. Tooth whitening with custom fitted home trays might be the bets initial treatment as this is a cost effective way of improving the front teeth for a relatively small outlay of around £300-400. Obviously this is subject to you being a suitable candidate.

If the gum disease has caused considerable amount of bone loss then the teeth may not be able to be saved.
